Predict Big East bowl results
aiiight. So now all the coaching drama is out of the way, let's predict how the BE teams will do in their bowl games.

Call me optimistic, but I see the BE going 5-0 in the post-season.

West Virginia 30
GA Tech 24

I think this game will be pretty close but the team should be energized with Rich Rod staying, and Slaton and White will finally be healthy. Ga Tech should be able to move the ball on the not-so-great WVU defense, but their offense has been anemic lately. I think the Mountaineers pull it out in a physical game.

Louisville 49
Wake Forest 23

Wake will score some points, but I just don't see how they can hope to keep up with the Cards, who just demolished everyone in their path after the Rutgers game.

South Florida 30
East Carolina 17

USF will contend for the BE title next year if Grothe continues to develop. They were already dangerous on defense, but now with Grothe they are developing the full package. I don't think ECU will have enough to beat the Bulls.

Cincinnati 35
Western Michigan 17

UC's defense should be able to limit what Western Michigan is able to do. The Bearcats are a bit of a question mark because of the coaching change, but hopefully the team will come out motivated. Brian Kelly has already beaten WMU once this year, so he's familiar with them.

Rutgers 38
K State 10

Rutgers was ready to go last year for their bowl game in the desert against the Sun Devils, and I think they'll be similarly motivated this year. I don't see Rutgers falling flat, like so many teams do when they don't get the bowl they deserve. K-State is a dangerous opponent (they beat Texas, and i'm sure Schiano will remind his team of this), and Rutgers will be ready. I like the Knights big in this one.

West Virginia 24 Georgia Tech 14
GT does have a good defense that will keep them in game.

Louisville 28 Wake Forest 10
UL has too much offense for WAke to stop

Rutgers 24 Kansas State 10
RU defense will stop KST dead,IF RU is not down from missing a BCS Bowl trip

South Florida 24 ECU 13
USF Defense will be the difference

Cincy 14 W. Michigan 6
If Cincy's defense comes to play it will be tough to score on. How will they react to new coach is big ?

The BEast wins all and loses none. That's my prediction.

BCS(Orange) - UL 35/Wake 21 - UL offense just a little too much
Off POG - Brian Brohm
Def POG - Nate Harris

Gator - WVU 38/GT 28 - CJ runs wild on WVU secondary, but Ball's skill at breaking up the pass proves too much for the GT offense to handle
Off POG - Steve Slaton or Pat White
Def POG - Reggie Ball 03-wink

Texas - KSU 27/Rutgers 24* - KSU wins on a late field goal after Rutgers comes out flat because of losing the BCS bid in one of, if not, the greatest games of the regular season.
Off POG - Freeman
Def POG - Some Rutgers LB/DL(don't know names)

Papajohn.com Bowl - USF 23/ECU 17 - Haven't seen either of these teams play more than a half, USF has played well, continues to do so and wins...
Off POG - Matt Groethe
Def POG - USF Secondary(forgot names)

Canada Bowl - UC 17/WMU 7 - Bearcat defense is no joke, and the broncos don't have the horses to run 'em ragged ala OSU.
Off POG - Davila
Def POG - Bearcat LB/DL

* If Rutgers does not come out down, they have the ability to rout the Wildcats...

What a bunch of 'homers.'

Louisville over Wake Forest by 14

West Virginia over Georgia Tech by 14

Kansas State over Rutgers by 10

Cincinnati over Western Michigan by a nats eyelash by 3

East Carilona over South Florida by 7

There are a little more realistic.

Give us a break coog. ECU by 17? lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao lmfao

You could say underdog ECU will win, but by 17 is more homer than anything. Quit being a hypocrite by being a homer yourself.

We played K-State and Rutgers is a much better ball club.

Louisville 38 Wake Forest 20
West Virginia 31 Georgia Tech 17
Rutgers 28 Kansas State 10
Cincinnati 17 Western Michigan 7
South Florida 30 ECU 10-Top Coog, USF beat WVU in Morgantown. ECU lost to WVU by 17 @ home.

Also there is a very good reason why every Big East team is favored in their bowl game.

College Card here is a classic Top Coog Prediction from August 2004 in regards to the Big East. And he calls us Homers.

99....some poster can give his view here on the proposed split 50 times, and some have, but if I give mine 5 times I get hit from every direction. The reason is they don't like my view points...its as simple as that. I have said it was a great basketball league many times and very little comment is made because they agree with me on that. Truth is I am due my view point on an equal basis with everyone here. You may not agree but you have to respect my right to have and EXPRESS an oponion. If you don't like it, don't respond.

We will see how all this works out and I'll stand by my viewpoints and admit if I am wrong.

on record
1. Big East basketball will be the top league in the nation
2. The Big east will lose the Gator Bowl and be reduced to mostly minimum pay bowls in the next bowl realignment (coming right up)
3. The Big East champ WILL PLAY the non BCS team everytime one is chosen. The have to ...the economics of TV won't have it any other way.
4. After two years the Big East will be on football probation with the BCS. They will be very close (within 10%) either way of CUSA and the MWC in the computer rankings. That is already the case.
5. There will be no Big East split. It would be economic suicide and Trangese will never do it.
6. Notre Dame will leave as soon as the bowl realignment process is over and will not be replaced.

Now I'vwe gone on record. We'll see what happens but if I'm right I want some of you guys to step up to the plate here.

The answers to his predictions of August 2004.

1. Correct
2. WRONG
3. WRONG
4. DEAD WRONG
5. TBD
6. WRONG but I wish he was right.

USF and Rutgers should win, as they have shown that over a 12 game season they are the more complete teams. That simply cannot be argued reasonably, no matter how bad CUSA fans want to think otherwise in ECU's case. There are always plenty of bowl upsets however. The Big East is favored in all 5 contests, but the odds of going 5-0 are not high. I don't expect any of the Big East teams to not show up however, so if they lose I think its close.

Louisville will beat WF - I'm just not sure how badly. I've watched Wake win ugly off and on through the season and teams like that scare me. That said, this could be a serious beatdown by Louisville.

I think WVU will pummel Ga Tech in the Gator. Ball is a terrible QB and unless you've actually faced WVU's offense before... you can practice against it all you want with the scout team pretending to be slaton and white but when the real deal gets in front of you and its healthy it could very easily blow you off the field. WVU was banged up for the USF loss, I give them a partial pass in that game.

If Rutgers plays with emotion they should beat KState. That said KState has an outstanding young QB that could cause problems for the Knights. This one will be decided by less than two TD's with RU pulling it out.

UC will win. I think Kelly will have the players in the right midset despite Dantonio's sudden departure. Kelly seems like the type of guy who quickly takes control and he's already pounded the opposition once this season.

USF should beat ECU. Grothe is the real deal but I thought USF would take down NCSU last season so who knows.
