How about we do this instead. Make these kids take two history classes at a time. One taught be a liberal and one taught by a conservative and then they can choose for themselves which to believe or to believe neither and go crack open some non-text books and formulate their own opinions from multiple sources. Its painfully clear that BOTH SIDES are using schools as an ideological battleground and that **** needs to stop because we are raising idiots who can't think for themselves and believe every damn thing someone else tells them.

You do know that the show ancient aliens is not an actual documentary, right? That those people appearing on the show are simple con-men, taking advantage of people who don't have the ability to discern actual evidence from wholesale rubbish.

You are high if you think conservative thought has an equal footing in our public schools. Not even close pal.

and btw, since when did teaching kids to be proud of your country equal "conservative" or "one side of the coin?" Sine when did that become a partisan ideology?

Pretty sure I didn't say that. I'm well aware that socialism is the dominate political leaning among the teaching establishment since they are government employees and have a vested financial interest in increasing the government.

adding "conservative thought" would go a long way in balancing out the radical left wing garbage being fed to our kids today.
This is the first story I've heard regarding this kind of patriotism being implemented in our schools in over 20 years.

Actually, socialism means the government control over the means of production, The teaching establishment has little stake in socialism. Communism is the term for control of families and the children. Political leanings of much of the teaching establishment is communist, not socialist. The good news is there is still a large percentage of teachers that are married with children and whose husbands provide, and that attracted to the job for the benefits of having summer off and working the same schedule as their children. Higher education is a much bigger problem than lower education, IMO, at least here where I live. Obviously not the case in Las Vegas.

If you don't like it then just send your kids to private school. That's what most decent Americans are doing.
It's harsh to say but folks like myself look at this and say, "at least I have the luxury to walk away." I plan to. My kids, when I have some, won't touch a public school. Leave the losers and do gooders to their 'work.' It's a losing game for them. The public education system is circling the bowl and only getting worse.
Plus, it works out better for me anyways. Again, it's harsh but if the underclass just want to do this and complain I can sleep at night leaving them to their fate. You can't help somebody who doesn't want help.
Good luck to the education culture warriors! The sooner they 'succeed' the sooner they destroy themselves. Good riddance!

In a perfect world, most people could afford private schools.

We are lucky to be zoned for the best elementary school in Virginia. My son is in kindergarten there and so far, so good. His teacher is a no nonsense wife of a retired 3-star general... and he needs that because we are a little loosey goosey insofar as structure at home. We are, however, quietly putting money aside for private school in 6th-12th grade. We have been used to paying $800 per month for preschool so we are taking $400 and putting it toward the house and $400 saving for private school down the road so it isn't a burden.

So, still constant judgements without anyone looking to see exactly what they were protesting?

Did I say Ancient Aliens? My bad, I meant drawings so old that they were drawn on rocks because paper and pencils didn't exist.

Take it for what it's worth, I'm not gonna argue. And similar drawings come right on through from century to century, none of which ever saw a flying object, or even knew what the term "flying" meant, until recently.

It's a shame but there isn't a public school in the nation I'd send my kid to school at for a 6-12 education.
