Wow...Seton Hall needs their own arena
I would like to see SHU follow the example of Nova/Pitt and build an on campus arena...this sounds horrible

While stationed at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska I lived in Omaha a block from a neon sign company. For over a year their neon sign read:

_eon Si_ns. Two missing letters. Overhead is a b*tch sometimes.

It's even worse for Seton Hall Games.

At least some folks show up for Nets/Devils Games...while many Seton Hall Games look like a Ghost Town in that Giant Arena.

If Seton Hall puts 8,000 or so in a 9,000-10,000 seat Arena...the place will be JUMPING!

Put the same 8,000 in the huge Meadowlands Arena...the crowd doesn't have the same effect.

As a former NJ resident who use to go to almost any sporting event I could get to...put Seton Hall into a smaller Arena...season tix would sellout, home-court advantage would be HUGE...plus NJ residents would have a mid-size Arena for other concerts/shows that don't need a 20,000 seat plus Arena or the high cost of renting the Continental Airlines Arena.

Maybe Seton Hall can build an Arena about 1/2 the size of the Meadowlands (maybe similar to what UCF is doing), which also can be used for other events/concerts/shows that don't need a 20,000 seat Arena.

PS. Just look at Rutgers...their small Arena ROCKS during Big East Hoop Games.

Info on UCF's new 10,000 seat Arena opening Sept 2007:

Seton hall is moving to the Newark Arena.

However, Georgetown still needs a home court, and not downtown, either. Anyone who has been inside McDonough Gym can attest.

For once I can concur. By all accounts I've ever heard they will be the second tenant in the Newark Arena being built. 2000 fewer seats but it will actually be a nice arena unlike that dump I've sat in for more hockey games I can remember.
