Best AD since I have been following NIU athletics and that dates back to 1971. He has accomplished so much in such a short time with limited resources.
Time will tell if best as I think Groth has to be in that discussion since she was at the helm during the main resurgence period of Huskie football, but Frazier is well on his way to being the best AD

+1. He grabbed a position title by the balls and ran it with limited resources. Sounds like "The Hard Way" material to me.

RE: SchedulePalooza Part 2
The list of games is really impressive for NIU - regardless of AD, year, era, etc.....This is a series of home games we have never seen before. I commend the initiative for scheduling better programs.
That being said, I cannot understand the constant bashing of the USF game.....over the Tulsa game.
If any of these schools should be ranked at the bottom of the (impressive) list, it's Tulsa.
Tulsa?

RE: SchedulePalooza Part 2
This has been the most unbelievable summer in NIU sports history. We are all excited about the future schedules. BUT, now, if we are true fans and want to see the schools succeed, we need to do whatever we can to help. Donate money, yes. Buy tickets, yes. Try to get others to buy tickets, yes. Promote the school to others, including prospective students, yes.
Now comes the hard part. NIU needs to build facilities to host these games. First, though, they need to fill the stands. Selling tickets is a big part of that, but getting the student body to enlarge is too. Letting legistators know that NIU's funding should be more, supporting Dekalb/Sycamore businesses and letting them know that we appreciate their participation, etc., etc.. By the way, Sean Frazier is doing a fantastic job, but he wouldn't be able to without the support of a great president in Doug Baker and trustees who go along.
Now is the time for NIU to rise on all fronts. Think what you can do to help and do so. Go Huskies.

Hurumph......Big Red's comments are on the mark. There is never going be one magic fairy with a HUGE checkbook....but....can be someone one w/ a big checkbook..and then some. Its getting excited to promote the University as THE place to attend academically (remember......the athletic department derives part of its budget thru activity fees which is derived from the number of students and while the University may be turning the corner, it has not been doing stellar in this department as of late). Put those decals on the rear window people! It's supporting all the sport teams, because while football & basketball can be a driver budgetary & communication wise, Some of the other MAC instructions have waaaay better tennis & golf facilitis & if we want to move to another conference, that's not going wash Bucko!
Go Huskies .....and always bleed red and black!

Great post.
Huskie Stadium should be sold out for every Saturday home game. Period.

I have a feeling that with how Frazier interacts so well with people we might see some new donors that have a bigger checkbook than most and start donating.

I find it really hard to believe ANY MAC school has better Golf facilities...have you been to Rich Harvest Farms? Have you seen the state of the art golf vans Jerry Rich donated?

RE: SchedulePalooza Part 2
Tulsa has gone bowling 7 of the last 9 years, including 2 CUSA and Liberty Bowl titles, and a couple of bowl smackdowns of the MAC including the ranked 2008 Ball State team. They were terrible operating as an independent in the 1990s, before joining the WAC and rebuilding into a 2000s conference power. (Sound familiar?) Their history is similar to NIU's (except for the oil money). I love the Tulsa series. It's a beautiful city too.

What I also love is that NIU is running things so well they don't have to take one-off beatings in the SEC on the road just to make their budget. Even if you don't love all the games, I think that's something to be commended.
