Callaway was already the coach for UAB when I started watching so I don't have any point of reference for Watson Brown but I always thought people considered him a good coach for the school. What is it I don't know about Brown?

Watson could have been viewed as the best coach we've ever had, if he hadn't burned the place to the ground on his way out.

For the most part, the players and media liked Callaway, not so with McGee. Callaway had actually called plays before he got here too!

Getting kicked around by Mississippi State wasn't all that surprising last week. After all, it's State and USA is still growing as a Sun Belt team to be reckoned with. As a 2 1/2-point favored this week, the Jags can show us some of that growth against Sun Belt newbie Georgia Southern, a scary opponent. Consider Georgia Tech had to rally late to beat the Eagles last week and Georgia Southern held a lead for the majority of its opener against ACC opponent NC State, before losing to the Wolfpack 24-23.

I lurked the Troy board after their defeat against UAB, and they seem to think, as you said, Blakeney will coach one more year and retire, and the rest of the staff gets let go.

He gets one year with a new staff?

Guess they don't want to win any games NEXT year, either.

I meant, Blakeney gets 1 more year, and when he is gone, his staff gets the boot (as I guess they would, regardless).

I have to disagree with you. Mcgee had no decency when he walked away. He snuck away during the middle of the night didnt bother to let the players know. That is about as scumbagish as you get. For that alone he is on the bottom of my list followed by Watson callaway clark hilyer.

We have as a ex-coach the guy who is within striking distance of being the losingest NCAA Football HC of all time, and he's not even the worst we've had? Yeesh! No wonder the program sunk so low.

Keep doing what you've been doing, Coach Clark. You're righting the ship faster than we thought was possible.

What about basketball? Who's the worst HC for UAB on the hard court?

On the court, right now it would have to be Haase.

I think, like Clark, the current guy gets an incomplete.

It's possible that our worst basketball coach is better than our best football coach. Obviously dependent on what Clark does.

I will have to go with Murry as our worst coach. In terms of relations with the fans and his bosses, it would be Davis. In terms of relations with the players, Murry again.

I really like what Haase has been doing and I like that he seems to think UAB basketball is a "destination job" as he stated last year. I think he is at least taking the right approach to UAB basketball and I am optimistic he can bring the program back.
