Quote:Actually, it's a 3 for 1. I think it's a really great thing that is happening though. I'm not as familiar about the financial aspect. What do you mean about paying half of the stadium seating revenue?

Meaning you make it worth their while to go there. You give them $x thousands of dollars in ticket revenue money, wether you sell those seats or not. Requires amping up the price of tickets of course, but many times it's a not a profitable situation. If the big team is going to come in and play you -- they want they same amount of shared ticket revenue that being at their own place would bring. MSU compromised some on that of course, hitting up all 3 G5 teams across-state... but still, it won't be a profitable thing for WMU -- just a good investment.

So much for the well versed college football fan haha

An excerpt from their board

Iowa, Toledo, and Northwestern are not cupcakes. Purdue is not great but still a tough road game. Umass should have beat Vandy this past weekend.

Uhhh.. the "Northwestern" is not Northwestern U located in Evanston, IL, rather it is Northwestern College located in Orange City, IA... a very small school... They beat Iowa by 3 points in Iowa... not saying that was a fluke, but Iowa wound up in the Outback Bowl losing to LSU by only 7 points......

Understandable. Ark State has had good years in the Sun Belt to be a tough mid-major (haven't followed them tho). But Arkansas trying to get their sh!t together the past couple years, understandably wouldn't want to play Ark State quite yet. To them it's probably "too soon"?

I've been shocked Illinois never played NIU in recent years, tho. Shocking. WMU has played Illinois more recently than NIU has!

uhh you misunderstand...we've never played Arkansas.

They have a policy of not scheduling an instate school in any sport...from Tiddlywinks to football. Last real notable time they played an instate school, Arkansas State beat them at home in the Women's NIT in front of sell out crowd.

We did fly the state flag upside down that game and stomp on it. I hope they didn't get too upset about that.

I took it from the perspective that he believed they were not playing the game because we were an understandably good mid major and a bad SEC team wouldn't take that risk.

The reality is...they've been dodging us since the 1950's.

I was not saying you guys HAD played. But yes, I didn't know that you COULDN'T. But that's a whole other subject, then -- not dodging/avoiding/delaying, unless it was instilled when other Ark universities were in the same division in order to avoid them.

Are you serious? LOL. Someone's gotta correct Skeeter and the gang down there in them hills in Arkansas, postin' on them other message boards while drinkin' Moonshine....

Was watching some of the highlights of the auburn/ark game and it seems like the slant over the middle is something Ark doesn't defend well. Hope it's the same against us and we take advantage of it.

Unbelievable. Is it a 2 for 1? How does the money work out? Congrats on your road win.

Keep in mind that Waldo has a capacity of 30,200. That's 25% more seats than Huskie Stadium or 6200 more tickets they can sell. Makes a big difference when you're negotiating to get a school like MSU (or Illinois) to play at your place.
Huskie Stadium had over 30,000 unofficially for Maryland. Seating "under 30,000" is not an excuse for lack of scheduling. Despite all the talk of it. And Frazier obviously knows that. Excuses are cheap, and I am glad Frazier's not buying cheap excuses.

Except that Frazier is the one who said they can't get teams to play here with the current capacity.

Well this is definitely a sign that NIU is doing things right! From the Hogville Forum:

NIU is better than many of you know. Their run defense is much better than TT. Their offense is more balanced and will stretch our secondary with run - pass concerns. NIU plays a much more physical style. We will have a fight on our hands.

Exactly what we need before heading back into SEC play. NS and TT were making us soft. Back to big boy football.

You may be the first person in the history of the internet to refer to the Arkansas fan base as "Smart."
I can speak to this point.
Our fan base is all over the place, but from what I've seen, so is eeeeeeeeveryone else's fan base. I lurk on an Ohio State board and a good majority of those people are clueless.
We've had a handful of nuts that have gotten noticed for their over the top idiocy. I think the majority of us are grounded, honest about our program, at least averagely knowledgeable about sports, and generally pretty good people. No bias...
I do get sick and tired of the backwoods stereotype, typically coming from someone that has no actual knowledge about Arkansas. It's as if no new information gets out about the state. We're doomed to be perpetually pigeonholed, based on some black and white nonsense filmed in the 40's and 50's. On a trip to Michigan, I actually had a lady surprised that I had no real accent. I guess she expected me to sound like the Beverly Hillbillies. She also asked me about my shoes. She asked if I bought shoes specifically for the trip. As if I didn't own shoes before the trip. Mmmmmm, what? Wow.

You'll get characters everywhere you go. I work for an accounting firm and we handle sales tax audits for our clients, and I focus mainly on Arkansas and Texas operations.

I've had 3 or 4 facility tours with different arkansas department of finance people, and every time they won't shut up about how "you guys are from the big city of dallas" it's like lady, you guys live in little rock not some small town.

I think most arkansas people are just as normal as everyone. It's the few hillbillies that turn the image.

This isn't Iowa. The mascot is a Russian boar, not a farm raised pig.
There are, however, a large amount of dairy farms and chicken houses.
We all work them after we get off of work.
At Walmart.
