So, because I'm so football starved I find myself listening to Pondscum on my drive home.

He's responding to some Big 10 guy calling the $EC's slate of games this past weekend as "Cupcake Saturday".

He agrees that teams don't gain anything playing Lamar and FAU, but Mississippi State played UAB, and they've had their troubles, but Bill Clark and his team played brilliantly (his word) and they (State) grew for playing that game.

He really isn't as bad as some on here make him out to be. He calls things how he sees them and he doesn't sugar coat it. More often than not he is right. He has really solid sources(I have no clue who they are) and I would listen to him more if he quit taking calls from the idiots.

As it turns out, he had McGee pegged long before I did.

I still can't listen to Finebaum, though. Too much of a shock jock. If he could compress his show down to 5 minutes of salient points, I'd be all over it.

Matt & Scott today gave backhanded compliments to UAB. They laughed at the yardage without the big plays (almost like big plays don't count). They basically said UAB averaged 4 yards per play without the "freakish" passing plays. Well, I'm no college head coach, but I'd take 4 yards per play all the way to the end zone.

Exactly! Like we're supposed to fall down before scoring? Otherwise those TDs don't count as much. 01-wingedeagle

And at a certain point, it's no longer a freakish big play. How many did we have to execute in order for them to count?

Think what you want about Callaway. What Finebaum did to him soon after he took the UAB job was unprofessional, unforgiveable, and indecent...something only a bottom-feeding troll with no sense of shame would pull on another person. That his name can be typed on this board is disgusting. **** him.

It's not freakish if you do it thrice. Four times if you count Staples' 53-yarder.

He knows his stuff and since his move to ESPN has gotten consistently better guests to speak on his show. If he cut out the Jerry Springer element he would be one of the best in the game. I cannot usually listen because I have to listen to a toothless moron rant about a fellow toothless moron who also calls into the show every ten minutes.
