One good thing about the FAU date... UAT is off that day. Maybe we can attract the casual fan wanting to attend a game but not wanting to miss the Gumps' game. Probably not as many as what Troy and A&M will bring but maybe enough to make up a little...

Alabama is off on Sept 27, when we play FIU at home. and on Nov 1, when we play FAU down there. Hopefully, some of them will come out on the 27th. FIU won't bring 500 people up here.

I corrected it right as you posted this...

RE: UAB road crowds and bowls
There are 38 bowl games this year, including the New Year's Six. That means of the 125 FBS bowl-eligible teams (Idaho is the only team not eligible for a bowl in 2014-15), 76 will go bowling, and 49 will stay home. Odds are if we are bowl-eligible, we will go bowling. If we want to be guaranteed a bowl, we need to be 7-5, because the new NCAA rules mandate all 7-5 teams must be placed in a bowl this year over 6-6 teams, unless one of those 6-6 teams is a contractually obligated conference champion. There won't be 76 7-5 teams. It's mathematically impossible.

Just to clarify there are 128 Division I-A teams:

Idaho is ineligible.
Appalachian State and Georgia Southern are transitional members and are only bowl eligible if there are not enough teams available to fill all the bowl slots.

Why is Idaho ineligible? I must have missed that story.

I think it may be related to the APR.

UAB fans need to start hitting the road with the team. This will be important when bowl selections come around. MSU was a nice start.

Take lots of crowd photos that show traveling fans, tailgates, road Blazer walks etc.

Get accurate photos of the home side of our games, tailgates, Blazer walk, and debunk the negativity surrounding attendance. Especially on twitter and local media.

Make an effort to get folks to games. Call out on here if you need tickets. Bring any extra tickets to the Blazertalk tailgates so we can pass out if needed.

Talk up road trips to WKU and MTSU. It would be great to get 1,000 up there for each.

It goes without saying that the football team has to do their part. What I am getting at is that there may be more bowl eligible teams than there are slots for and we need to show we can put people in the stands. We don't have to out-draw and P5 schools but we may have to show we can bring more than say FAU for an example.

Just a few random thought.

I'd be happy to take three tickets of someone's hand, if there are extras. No problem if there aren't, though.

You figure with all the free time the players have from not studying very much, they'd be pretty good at football.

The ones that study hard are often the better players. Work ethic extends to a lot of things

I know. That was my joke at the time. If they aren't studying, and they aren't practicing football, what are they doing?
