Same thing every year. The Bulldogs are excited and unstoppable and are going to win the SEC and NC. Then, they play Auburn, Alabama, LSU, or even Ole Miss and get beat. The Bulldog fans crawl back into their dog houses never to be heard from again for the rest of the season. I hope UAB can shut them up this year though.

Ok, I believe in pumping up your team when you're the beat writer; but that comment is a bit unprofessional. I hope we beat the crap out of State.

It's not unprofessional. He is pandering to his fan base. It's what beat writers are supposed to do. Hint hint Crenshaw.
Agreed.
It still could be true this year. We will soon find out just how competitive UAB can be against them.
BTW, I believe the same thing could be said about a lot of the games today, including the ones at Tuscaloosa and Auburn. My alma mater is about to get scorched at Auburn today.

RE: MSU beat writer says he could play QB and beat UAB
Think what it would be like if the B'ham NEWS was assigning a full time beat writer to any other out of state team. Here we have a writer for a Memphis paper pumping for a Miss. team about a hundred miles from its home city. I know its still closer than UTK, but it does cross a state line. Does the Mobile paper assign a full time beat writer to USM or to FSU?
I hope we win because we are getting better, and we play a great game.

I guess they could say a similar thing about us. Every August, this will be the year that we get bowl eligible

Perhaps this is the year desire meets results for UAB. We are 1-0 and building.

Yep. I bet they still show highlights of their greatest game ever, when they beat UAT 6-3 back in the 70's, on the big screen

Yep, the Clarion-Ledger is the Jackson, Mississippi paper or media outlet.
I could only handle 5 seconds of the video, but read the article.

I would love to play the game again with the MSU beat writer as their QB.

Agreed. Without Prescott, I definitely think UAB could have won. I hope he bet the farm on MSU covering the spread.

"Blowout"...."Trounces"....
LOL. USA will be the last time they'll use those words. They have a tough, tough road ahead against their division.
They also called us "The Dragons". Just some great Mississippi journalism. :-)

Wow... trounces? Barely beating us by double digits is trouncing? I guess for MSU, their threshold for such terms is low.

Well, maybe 49-34 is a blowout...but not, 47-34.

UAB scored more points than all but 3 of MSU's opponents in the last 2 years. The only teams that scored the same or more were South Carolina (34), LSU (59), and Texas A&M (51).

If the beat writer and QB did switch places, it's safe to say the football team would drop off more than The Clarion-Ledger.
