148 yards rushing, three TDs an average of nine plus per carry for Kareem Hunt. That is something to celebrate.

RE: Missouri at Toledo game thread
A little gamesmenship by UT?

Quote:Pinkel, the winningest football coach in Rockets history after coaching there from 1991-2000, couldn’t help but wonder if Missouri’s police escort to yesterday’s game was employing a little bit of gamesmanship before the Tigers’ 49-24 win over Toledo.

“There’s a shorter way to get here,” Pinkel said. “I thought there was something shaky about that. I didn’t say anything, because I wanted them to have a somewhat positive image of Gary Pinkel. All I know is it took twice as long to get here as it ever did before. You may want to mention something to them about that.”

+1 03-banghead03-banghead03-banghead
Just a bunch of walmart fans who buy the shirt/hats/trinkets of big school state then parade around thinking they are part of the club. I heard that all the merchandising of o$u garbage nationwide, subsidized their 100 million dollar plus student union/rec center... And the rich just keep getting richer...

Still the worst was sitting with my dad and my friends in a season ticket holder section in Cleveland in 2009 and Ohio State gear outnumbered UT gear probably 3-to-1. It was sick. There were season ticket holders in Cleveland who sit near my dad in the Glass Bowl wearing Ohio State gear!!! They invest in good UT tickets, yet they'll openly root against them. Terrible.

I also heard that on the UT alumni sponsored bus trip to that game that there were a number of people sporting suckeye gear on the busses. IMO, Dan Saevig should have politely made a point of saying that their choice of attire was out of line. I don't know, maybe he did...

I took a friend to the game who was visiting from out of town. It was his first trip to the Glass Bowl. He had a good time and would like to come back. He was wearing an Ohio State shirt.

Most everyone I saw had some kind of Toledo gear on. Including the guy a couple of rows behind me who was booing loudly and screaming insults at the Rocket players for much of the game. Fortunately, he left in the third quarter.

Jeremiah Detmer named MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week after the Missouri game. Congratulations to Jeremiah. But (and please understand, I don't mean this as a criticism of Jeremiah, who I think is outstanding) it must have been a tough weekend for special teams players on MAC West teams. Jeremiah certainly didn't have a bad game, but I didn't think there was a chance he (or any Rocket) would have been chosen for Player of the Week honors after Saturday's game.

Here's a link where you can read the writeup about all the players chosen for their performance in the games last weekend.

I just wanted to say that I feel AWFUL about what happened to your QB. The kid showed a TON of promise. He's going to be the real deal. What a fluke injury? Just absolutely sucks.

You guys have a very solid team. Some things just worked against you, but assuming Woodside can become effective, you'll be tough to beat. You have a very nice Oline and some quality players all over the field.

I've always pulled for Toledo when I've been able to catch your games (because Pinkel came from there), and I'll be doing so even harder.

Have a good season and a healthy season!

Thanks for those thoughts. And here's hoping the Tigers run the table the rest of the way.

You could say that. Our starting K/P knocked himself out attempting a tackle on a punt return at Purdue. His replacement at K went 4/4 on XPs and made a 24yd FG, which is laudable for a bench player, but not POW material. Our backup punter had a much rougher time. Fortunately, the game was not close enough to make it a big issue. 03-phew

Sorry about your QB. We had that happen in game 1 last season (broken collarbone). Not fun.

Don't know about Detmer but

how does a 150 yd, 5 per carry average against Purdue even get into the same ballpark as a 150 yd 9.9 yd per carry, 3 td game against Missouri?
