Ex bov member speaks out- dnr 9-6
Evidently, conference information and alum are not the only group Alger leaves in the dark...The engaged president does not communicate with the bov when convenient...
Does this fall under "this is how the jmu administration operates?"...move on, nothing to see here?

Isn't there a judicial committee for this type of thing? I don't even know if this is a BOV thing. If so, what's the point of the committee?

In my opinion, Alger's contract will not be renewed in 2016.
Lots of grumbling/rumbling on many fronts.

How do you keep something like this from the BOV?

Because it's not their area of jurisdiction or responsibility or maybe because they're so disengaged most of them couldn't give a ****.

It's not a matter of them acting on it but a matter of them knowing about it. I have to send weekly status reports to my Program Lead.. If I left something out that could escalate into something huge (like this sexual assault case) then I'd get my ass chewed out and most likely lose my job. People don't like surprises in industry, especially bad ones. If there was a report stating what happened, JMU's resolution and why they came to that resolution then that fine... However, it seems that didn't happen.

Yeah, but the BOV is not like an engaged program lead. It's different. To me, the whole thing should have been handled by law enforcement and not by JMU in any capacity. But, that's just my opinion. Criminal complains and allegations should be handled by those who deal with them for a living. Who gives a **** if they go to JMU?

I completely agree with this. Not sure why JMU is responsible for handling sexual assault cases caused 4 states away but public opinion thinks differently. As for the argument, its a matter of this administration not divulging pertinent information to it's higher ups. If you ask me, the whole upper echelon of JMU needs a do over.

Does do over mean accounability? It seems a bov notice of admin transparency expectations not being met is in order. I noticed the words "Alger refused" from the article.
Months ago I predicted nobody would be held accountable. I still say nobody will be held accountable...different subject, same admin/bov...we will never get conference transparency...how can we expect differently in other areas?

As far as I know, the BOV gets to vote on the election of the president of the university just like they get to vote on anything else major. So, it kind of seems like revisionist history to me. If you didn't like the guy, you shouldn't have approved him. And, thus far, IMO you really shouldn't have. The absolute last thing JMU needed was a do-nothing type.
