NIU v NU
Having seen the press this week and what appears to be a near sellout, I hope AD Frazier can work his magic and convince AD Phillips that this is a series made in heaven. The only thing NU has to agree to is a home and home series. This is a win win for both schools. It generates more interest then the NU v Illinois series. If we have to charge $50, $60 for the game on DeKalb. This is what college football is suppose to be about

RE: NIU v NU
Regardless of conferences our similar to Michigan, our governor should mandate that the Div 1 schools play each other every few years. Of course with NU being private it makes it a little more difficult, but getting regular games scheduled in our state would really boost the interest level of college football in this state.

RE: NIU v NU
I would like nothing more for whenever our stadium renovations are completed and the stadium is up to snuff that our opening game would be against none other than U of I. Maybe a pipe dream, but it's not totally unrealistic.

RE: NIU v NU
I'd even be fine with a 2 for 1 if it's Northwestern or Illinois.

Their next open spot for an away game is 2019.
With our current 2019 schedule even putting in a FCS team for the 4th OOC game that is a tough schedule...

FCS
At Utah
At Nebraska
Vs NU

Their next opening is 2021 when we are supposed to host Maryland.

Regardless of how tomorrow works out...
… can we please start making the NIU games a regular thing? If we’re going to play a team from the MAC every year, I want us to focus on one or two programs and build a good rapport as opposed to continually switching between the directional Michigans and other programs (my vote for the 2nd program would be Miami (OH)). I don’t care if it means making 2 for 1 Home / Away arrangements or even an occasional home-and-home series – I’m happy to travel to DeKalb once every three years or do a Soldier Field game (if that is what NIU would want). NIU fans are good fans, the program has a good history of integrity, we’re geographically close, and it helps both schools with ticket sales.

Great idea
It would be fun to travel to DeKalb to cheer on the Cats- maybe LTP could even organize a sail gate part 2.

/Looks at results of Army game

Love this idea.
While we’re at it, how about locking in NIU-Illinois too? Then we could have a Commander-in-Chief’s-esque trophy (maybe even co-opt the LOLHat) for the best team in the state.

For a non con game? I’m impressed.

Way to go Athletic Dept and JP. Unfortunately it’ll probably be around 15,000 NIU fans, but should make for a great atmosphere

We really don't recruit against eachother that much. We are so close that we help eachother out for attendance. It just makes sence to play at eachothers place at least once every 4 years

Jim Phillips is smart, if this game is as financially successful as it now appears he will re-up and if NIU can increase seating capacity in HUSKIE Stadium he should and probably would consider a home and home series. Frazier is savy enough to work this out.

RE: NIU v NU
On Stubhub since noon some tickets have gone up in price while others have gone down.

Right now there are 479 tickets available. I didnt see how many were on there earlier. I would guess that most of the tickets bought from now on will be walk ups.

Ya 430 now. So 49 tickets in 2 hours. How late do they sell these on Stubhub...I mean as far as it being less than 16hr until kickoff?
