Rip would've been blackballed if he'd done that. You can't blame the guy for NOT committing career suicide.
black balled for what? his responsibility was the football program at Memphis, not worrying about future jobs.

Alienate or not we didn't get squat before or after all that. Eventually the guy from Bama came back to Memphis way after the fact.
Point being, we never had a football coach that was willing to stand up for the program without worrying about the other clutter.
Cal told the local coaches where to stick it and still got the Memphis kids he wanted most of the time.
I think other schools and the NFL would have had the same amount of respect for Rip if he had blown the whistle. Except of course for those he would blow the whistle against, and screw them.
No one will ever change my mind about that, a lot of people knew what was going on and turned their heads, while everyone wanted to blame RC going forward.

Memphis high school coaches would have steered their kids even farther from Memphis if he had done that.
He was trying to build a Memphis program with Memphis kids. Kind of hard to do when no Memphis kids would have signed after that.
There is a code amongst kids...and the coaching ranks I guess. You DON'T snitch....or else.

that still isn't a ton in Los Angeles.

I'd like to think he won't retire there, and secondly he's a smart dude that probably has quite a bit stashed away.

True. The state rapes it's citizens which is why many here who helped ruin it are headed to Texas to help ruin that state. I like to call them locust...Whatever happened to Stobart?

Rip deserves every good thing that comes his way. His tenure here saw him promised things like new practice facilities, new stadium on campus in a reasonable time frame, and many other things that could have elevated this program. Sadly, he got stiffed like so many other guys here by leadership that felt out lied.

I have no sympathy for Rip. None what so ever. He never should have been hired. FACT!

Run up the middle for three downs and finish with 4th and 7. At least we had good defense.

The coaching decision to put in freshman Travis Anglin inside the 10 yard at Neyland stadium after Neil Suber had just marched the Tigers down the field. Anglin throws a pick on his first snap. I still get pissed about that decision.

Rip did not have the political; power to out other coaches and not have it come back and bite him in the ass. No Tiger coach would even be allowed on certain campuses in the region if he did that.
