Which we may very well not have built without CP.

No doubt Peterson deserves a lot of credit for the Jack, the track and soccer complex, and the baseball renovation. Somehow he managed to talk to the right people. I've always given him the credit for those things. The thing I've held against him were his public relations with the common fan, and letting attendance continue to slide while keeping his buddy on the payroll despite a very mediocre record(only 19 wins above .500). Want to see this program take off? Along with the need for a young AD, let him hire a new young energetic coach.

RE: Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead!
Well Chris tied the new AD down with the extra year extension of Steve's contract. I'll never understand the timing of that. If it was going to be done, it should have been done as soon as the season ended last year. And ticket holders shouldn't have been told this was the last year of his contract. Of course it was the truth at the time. He just neglected to inform the fans that he was going to extend the contract later in the Summer. At least the fans who were not going to renew their tickets until Chris was gone can now buy their tickets again. And I would hope that those who wanted a coaching change would renew to give support to the new AD, whomever it might be, to give him the opportunity and the funds with which to bring in his own coach. As I stated before, I was going to renew my tickets regardless since my belief that you support the program from within, not from without, but I fully understand that some of my friends didn't share my feelings and I have fully supported their right to their position. But I hope now they can see we have the opportunity to move the program forward and will reconsider their position and stay with the program. Go Trojans.

Huge article on the front page of the Demozette this morning. I sent my copy to my grandson in college. Do you have access to the online site for the paper or can you find the paper where you live. If not I'll see if I can find a copy and sent it to you. Let me know.

The facilities are in place for the UALR athletic program to take a leap forward if the right AD is hired. How you find that right guy I don't know, and luckily it is not my job. I think finding applicants will be easy, with a first class arena, top of the line pool, new track, new soccer field, and nice baseball complex. I wish Derek Fisher was unemployed, but a doubt he will leave a 5 million dollar a year job to come here. Probably someone with experience at a city/commuter type campus that also lives in the shadow of another college or pro team would be helpful. "Build it and the will come" doesn't work at UALR.

Assistant AD at Wichita State or Creighton might also be a good place to start. Might also want to consider an AD at a lower level DI program or DII program who has shown the ability to sell tickets, bump attendance, and get the local community involved in the program. But, like it or not, getting someone who can continue to wine and dine the big donors is essential for the survival of our program.

Didn't we just get rid of an AD that was an Assistant AD at Creighton? I don't think I want to go down that road again. At this point I think you are correct, we need someone who knows how to build community involvement as a strong suit, in addition to having experience running an Athletic Department. It really doesn't have to be D-I experience either. We certainly don't need someone with little or no athletic administration experience.

"Relatively" is probably the key word there. It takes a little more time to get the experience to be a successful AD than a coach. But we might get someone in his 30's.

Finding the "right" guy for this job and situation will be challenging. Looks to me that ASU hit a "home run" with their last hire (I can't spell his name). We need to do the same.

Mohajir is the only AD I know who can guilt trip donors into donating.

I doubt you'll get lucky enough to find an alum like we did, but I'd take a look at a strong G5 program's associate AD. Someone who has experience at the mid major level, and wants to become an AD.

P5 guys are great, but would a guy coming out of Florida say really have any idea how to deal with the unique challenges that are UALR? Mohajir has said several times here that the best experience he had for our situation was working at FAU. By working at a school that faced similar issues, he had a better idea how to attack those issues when faced with them here.

You certainly need someone Young though. I'd also guess you want someone who has a decent amount of experience working in Men's Basketball since you guys don't play football.

Okay, Wichita State then. Still don't know why a current assistant AD at Creighton should be ruled out since he likely never met Chris Peterson.

Any of the Big East assistants would be someplace to look.

That's my thinking. I hope the Admn. will consider giving the females a chance. Since there is no football, Don't see why an experienced lady, enthusiastic and energetic couldn't do a good job here. Seems to me a lady would likely be better at promotions than a man. You would think there would be lots of lady candidates out there who would like the chance to be the an Athletic Director.

And someone who wants a top notch basketball and baseball program, and not settle for a mediocre basketball program, and a bad baseball program like we've had for twenty years or so.

Good idea, since all are now non-football schools. I guess I think about Wichita State because like us- they are a state school; they are in the state's largest city (Kansas City is primarily in Missouri); they don't play football; they compete with a major state University- KU (also have KSU). Unlike us, they consistently draw huge crowds in a metro area despite being a little brother to KU. They have managed to connect with the average sports fan in Wichita. They do have the advantage of being a "basketball" state, although Arkansas seems to support the hogs just fine when they are winning big.

Just pulled this up for the heck of it. This guy doesn't sound bad at all. I'm sure there are a bunch of great candidates out there. I doubt many associate AD's would turn this down. Either would AD's at DII or lower DI schools. Just hope we pick the right one.
