RE: Week 8. How do you rank them this week?
I see you finally gave up on Texas A&M
I said after the Mississippi State game they didn't look anywhere close to a top 25 team
Putting Ohio State at 19 shows how laughable this ranking is. They are playing like a top five team

Hello,
Playing like a top 5 team does not make you a top five team.
Ohio State is 5 and 1:
Navy
Kent State
Cincinnati
Maryland
Rutgers
With a loss to Va Tech.
Navy has other loses to Rutgers, Western Kentucky and Air Force
Kent State is 1 and 5, the win was against Army
Cincinnati has other loses to Memphis and Miami
Maryland only other loss was to West Virginia; their four wins are against James Madison, Syracuse, Indiana and Iowa
Rutgers wins were against Washington State, Howard, Navy, Tulane and Michigan; but also lost to Penn State. Penn State lost to Michigan
So Ohio State has to beat Michigan State and Minnesota to even be considered to be in the top 10.
So if my rankings are laughable, how would you rank Ohio State in the top 25 and why?
How do you rank them this week?

Right now I would put them anywhere from 8 to 12
Put that same logic on a number of teams you ranked ahead of them

RE: Week 10. How do you rank them this week?
I think Arizona State is getting short shrift in the polls. ASU's wins include USC, Utah, Stanford, and there only loss was a game in which their 3-year starting QB (2nd Team All-Pac 12, ahead of Hundley last year) missed his first game, and a kid had to step in to make his first start.
Consequently, Michigan St's 3 best wins are Nebraska, Indiana, and Michigan -- yep, those are really their three best wins.
And Notre Dame's BEST win is Stanford (who they got bailed out against late, and ASU handled easily). Their other three best wins are Syracuse, North Carolina, and Navy. Yep, that's who they've beat.
I've long grown accustomed to the disrespect ASU gets nationally (Deadspin had a Regressor stat analysis last week that quantifiably "proved" that ASU is consistently the most under-ranked team in the nation), but I'm scratching my head at how people can rank ND and MSU over them based on anything other than brand equity and antiquated thinking.

I think the Pac 12 tends to get under-rated, but when you lose 62-27, your complaints about being under-rated fall on deaf ears.

RE: Week 11. How do you rank them this week?
After Week 11, this is how I think the committee will rank them:
1.. Mississippi State 9-0
2.. Florida State 9-0
3.. Oregon 9-1
4.. Alabama 8-1
5.. TCU 8-1
6.. Arizona State 8-1
7.. Baylor 8-1
8.. Ohio State 8-1
9.. Nebraska 8-1
10.Auburn 7-2
11. Ole Miss 8-2
12. Kansas State 7-2
13. UCLA 8-2
14. Arizona 7-2
15. Georgia 7-2
16. Notre Dame 7-2
17. Clemson 7-2
18. Wisconsin 7-2
19. Duke 8-1
20. Michigan State 7-2
21. Georgia Tech 8-2
22. LSU 7-3
23. Oklahoma 6-3
24. Marshall 9-0
25. Missouri 7-2
I believe that the CFP committee will make conference championships one of its highest criteria. So far, they have not been able to factor that into their rankings because conference standings have been too murky. I believe they are now at a point where they can essentially set up "elimination games".
Unless chaos ensues (and if it can, it probably will), I think the top nine teams are still in contention for a playoff spot. One from the ACC, and two each from the four other P5 conferences. I believe the committee has conceded the ACC spot, if there is to be one, to Florida State. I don't think any other ACC team could climb that high even by beating the Noles.
Though they say they don't rate conferences, I think they would (at least subconsciously) value an SEC champ over the PAC 12 champ if they have the same number of losses (criterion #2). It looks to me like their conference pecking order is SEC, PAC 12, Big 12, B!G, and ACC.
They may wait until the bitter end before inserting a G5 school into their top 25, but it is getting harder IMO for them to ignore an unbeaten Marshall, even if they don't think they are the best G5 team. It would be uncomfortable for them, IMO, to rank Colorado State ahead of Marshall after Week 15 if the Rams go 11-1 but don't win their conference title. I think they would want whoever gets the access bowl slot to be the highest ranked G5 team, not just champion.

I would say that talent wise, UCLA is equivalent to Ole Miss. Alabama lost to Ole Miss and has had some close calls against other opponents that they should have blown out.
Arizona State has that bad loss but puts everyone else down in strong fashion.
The point is that a program like Alabama gets far too much leeway while a program like Arizona State doesn't get the credit it deserves. I understand why that is the case but the point still stands that people aren't right when they think this way.

Arizona State wins against USC, Stanford and Notre Dame stack the deck but the 62 to 27 lost to UCLA has to be considered.

Why Nebraska so high?
If you are looking at Nebraska's schedule, their only loss was by five to a pretty good Michigan State team. They don't have any showcase wins, but all of their wins, except McNeese State, have been by double digits. With Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa up next and a possible CCG, they will have opportunities to prove themselves. It may not be a strong schedule, but they have handled their business pretty well.

Agreed. The Wisconsin game will determine if they are legit.
