Once we return to Legion though we should win our last two home games this month. Has UAB ever started as well as 3-1?

I'm thinking it was one year with Watson. Maybe the year we were ranked in the BCS poll, then we lost to Tulane, and every thing went down hill from there. I think that is the same year.

Correct.

The line is dropping fast... It has dropped anywhere from 1 to 1 1/2 pts since opening.

This is when people should care a little about the line. People are putting money on us keeping it close. That's cool. It doesn't really matter, but it shows we impressed people nationally.

The last time UAB was 3-1 was in 2005 (the year after the bowl, being ranked, etc.). Lost to Tennessee, 17-10, then beat Troy, Jacksonville State and Rice. Then SMU came to town.

Mississippi State looked like a big football team. Hope we put up a good showing and come out with minimal injuries.

IIRC, we beat JSU by 1, when they botched the hold on the PAT that would have tied it. Every now and then, we DO get the lucky bounce.

I think way back when, JSU may have botched an extra point also.

Mississippi State might be in for a surprise if they overlook us this weekend. Heck, I was surprised to see the Blazers Saturday. Heck, everybody was surprised including Troy for that matter.

Judging by MSU fans, we are being written off as an easy victory especially since the only team Southern Miss has beaten in the past two years is us. I hope this arrogance spreads to the players as well.

If anything, it would be easier for them to overlook us if they were playing LSU next week, but that matchup doesn't happen for an extra week. I think, since we're in the middle of their three "tune-up" games, they'll still be pretty focused.

I want the team to win as much as anyone else, but I certainly won't be upset or leaping from the bandwagon if they don't. Above all else, I want our boys to get out without major injury - either physical or mental. It's a shame we have to play this kind of game to help with the budget, but it's a fact of life.

Yeah, let's remember this for what it is: a money game.

I want to win it as much as I want to win any game, but even if we get righteously shellacked, it really doesn't have much bearing on the trajectory of our season, unless we let it.

That is, unless we win. 03-wink

It wasn't a money game until Misstake bought their way out of the return game to Birmingham like Ole Piss. this was a home and home tacked on to the three for two.

Best outcome -- A Blazer victory by any margin.

Better outcome -- A close loss with no injuries sidelining players. Our kids still get to see how a multimillion dollar program looks on the field.

Good outcome -- A close loss with no important injuries.

Bad outcome -- See USM

Jacksonville State is 99. But I don't understand any of those numbers.
