At BW3 Village Watch Party
I'm here and will be leaving shortly. No seats place is full of LSU & WIsc fans. Thought they played tonight ? No room for Rice.

What about the watch party at Little Woodrow's in the Village - anyone know how it's fairing?

Really - it too? I would have thought their fans would be at NRG stadium getting their awesome tailgates started for tonight.

LSU fans in Village are the ones with no tickets. Why would they pay for parking at Reliant to try to get into a tailgate ?

RE: BW3 Village Watch Party
Man, I am so pissed. Wasted time and gas getting out to the village with the hopes of watching the game amongst Rice folks and all I find is the "official" place is over run and not a shade of blue to be seen. I asked the hostess if there was going to be a Rice ND watch party and she had no idea what I was talking about. Went to Little Woodrows and it was the same situation. At that point and time I said screw it and just went home. Needless to say I am sending a nasty email to the athletic department, especially after the BW3 location was identified as the official watch party location.

Thanks for writing the nasty email, Chef. I was planning on going over there until I read this thread. It really is poor form to identify a location as the official watch party and make no efforts to secure any space for your fans, especially at a public sports bar the first Saturday of the season.

Oh, I think key people are already aware of the situation! Thanks for letting everyone know.

Ditto Chicago...
Fortunately, I was not alone in cheering for Rice, as the local Purdue, DePaul, etc. folks always cheer against Notre Dame.

I know how those Purdue and DePaul guys feel. Growing up my very kind and understanding Dad had one rule... You NEVER cheer for Notre Dame. I still have that rule in my house.

Not surprised. It takes a special kind of person to be a Rice fan. There aren't many of us. If we are ever going to expand the fan base we have got to eliminate, or virtually eliminate games like yesterday. Non die hard fans will cheer for a winner, period. I don't care what the graduation rate is, or how much money we plow into marketing, or how many med center alliances we make, it is not going to make a material difference in the number of Rice fans until we can beat someone of note.
