Did they call out the BOT?
no, they said we needed some former Blazers in the NFL to write a check…they didn't seem to realize that lack of $$ isn't what got the last plan crushed

This worries me. In fact, this is my only concern after today's game. We didn't even try to throw it to receivers that much. It was mostly to tight ends. And when we did try to go vertical, we threw too many one-on-one jump balls to JJ, who is way too short for that.
Ultimately, we scored 48 points, so it's fine. I'm hoping we weren't disguising a severe weakness in the vertical passing game, though. Lots of screens and slants.

Cody played caretaker today. He will need to improve as the season goes along. I'm betting he will.

But I mean Jesus we looked good. It's a boring word, but my overall takeaway was how organized we were. Everybody knew where they were supposed to be and when, and we looked confident about it. I don't think McGee's offense knew itself well enough to hurry up in any situation, much less for the whole game. Lots of different looks on offense, and as someone else pointed out, the wide receivers in motion wrinkle was nice to see. The designed quarterback runs worked out well too, and Cody can run the option plays.

This was the big difference from the last several years, especially on defense. Under both Callaway and McGee, our defenses were so inept it was pathetic. It was really nice to hear a game called where the defense knew what it was supposed to do.

It showed up in the stat line too: our leading tacklers were Ganus, and right behind him, Watkins--a DL!!!

I would have guessed 30,000 at the game but box score says 27,000+. Troy brought a good crowd. They left early!
That's still a decent crowd. Maybe we can keep that number up in that range if this team wins a few more like this.
give us a couple of years. last night after the game I was talking to a former UAB band member and when I mentioned the game she said "you mean there is actually a reason to go?" She was not being a smartass. she was excited at the possibility of going to a uab game to see a good product instead of what she was forced to see for four years. I have the feeling there are a lot of former uab students that would show up if we had a decent product. unfortunately we lost ten years of making diehard fans out of students. you build a fan base by putting a good product on the field. its going to take a while before we can put that many of our own fans in the stadium but we will get there with a good product.

We were also crazy good on 3rd down conversions.
I'm just so impressed at how prepared the entire team was, and how that translated into overall good performance in all phases of the game.
Folks, what we have here is an honest to goodness football coach!!!
