UMD Media on JMU Game
I sure hope the MD players are reading this , Picked up from the Baltimore Sun Interview with the UMD Beat writer :
BSL: James Madison is fresh off of a 6-6 season last year, and have a new head coach in Everett Withers. What are your expectations from Maryland’s side in this game, and should we expect a similar result to the 43-10 win over Florida International last season?
Garman: Maryland should have a convincing victory against James Madison. The offense is the most intriguing part about this 2014 Terps team due largely to the passing attack. C.J. Brown has an opportunity to make a bigger name for himself in his sixth season and perform against quality Big Ten defenses. The Terps can use this game as a way to see what kind of production they’ll have for their running backs. They need to have the ability to run the ball and give balance to the offense, not in this game, but throughout the season into conference play.
The defense should shut down the Dukes’ offense for the majority of the game, but could allow some points late in the game. The Terps have the ability to post a similar result to last season’s opener, possibly even exceed

RE: UMD Media on JMU Game
Yeah, it's terrible. http://baltimoresportsandlife.com/terps-...s-madison/
In their eyes, FCS teams are defined by how many FBS transfers they have, in this case, we apparently have two of them (Lee and Hill), and no one else is worth mentioning.
It includes an interview with Matt Jones who mentions other players, but all the interviewer wants to hear about are the transfers. Jones actually had to set him straight and remind him that Hill has been battling injuries.
Even after he posts the interview (in which he learns Hill is out) he lists this as one of the keys of the game:
Stop Vad Lee - The first order of business for Brian Stewart and his defense should be forcing Vad Lee to give the ball to other players. Whether it’s Alden Hill or one of his receivers, the Terps should not let Vad Lee beat them defensively, especially with his legs.

RE: UMD Media on JMU Game
I hope the Dukes can make him eat crow but MD is supposed to be improved this year over their last few years. I don't know what to expect from the Dukes this year and the uncertain quality of the secondary and lack of kicking game worries me.

Quick, Deez you are on campus. Go put this on the walls of the APC and get it in EW's hands. Put in inside the buses and anywhere the team could possibly see it.

He's preaching effort above everything, and any wins would be the result of hard work and effort. Based on what I've heard from him, I would guess he would think that if he needs that to entice his players to play hard, he has failed.

Yeah little do they know that Khalid Abdullah is a more solid back. He impresses me with how hard he runs on every down. I think he will be a special football player for JMU.

I'd want my team to know this is what the other team is thinking. "Maryland should have a convincing victory against James Madison," and this, "The defense should shut down the Dukes’ offense for the majority of the game."

I want my guys to think the opposition is narcissistic and their $hit don't $tink. I don't care if its a box turtle, media, coach, or player. I want to give them one more reason to punch 'em n the neck.

There is no doubt the Dukes went into that game with no fear. The key is to keep it close. The longer we hang in there the more their shoulders will droop.

There's nothing you can put on some bulletin board that's going to make a team play better in this situation. These guys have been getting up for 5am workouts for months. They'll be as ready as they can be to play the game.

The key to this game is the line of scrimmage. The Dukes have players who can make plays if they have the time.Keeping fingers crossed for the kicking game.Go Dukes!

This will be a very difficult game to win, but I do hope that the teams sees things like this. I saw another article today that referred to this game as a "tuneup" for Maryland.

I especailly like the game score predictions. (click on Roundtable: Predictions for season, JMU......about 2/3 of the way down the page) 63-13? 51 - 7? "Maryland breaks 60 points" Wow!
In another article they interviewed the sports editors of The Breeze

The only way we get blown out like those guys are predicting, is turnovers. We win the TO battle and we keep it close. If not, then those reporters might be right.

Well people from out of state are always mixing up the Virginia public schools, they must have us confused with someone else. Did they mention anything about only needing to play 55 minutes?

RE: UMD Media on JMU Game
man you guys are overreacting.
i saw nothing wrong with the article, the line of questioning of Jones, etc.
we say the same things when we play St Francis. Why would Maryland expect anything other than an easy win?
whether that happens or not is TBD, just like we found out against St Francis. But the EXPECTATION going into the game from a MD perspective seems pretty accurate to me.
I think Maryland wins because I think they are pretty decent this year. But we'll put up a good showing in the loss.

JMU wins... we set the Testudo statue on fire (again)... we run a riot down to Bentley's and Cornerstone... Scott Van Pelt joins us in the fun... he admits to Lindsay Czarniak that Virginia is better than Maryland. Go Dukes.

Ah, perhaps because the last time we played Maryland the game went to overtime? And the following year we beat a ranked VT team?
I'd add the only reason we lost last time we played was because the Mickster insisted on splitting time between two QBs, one by the name of Thorpe who didn't produce squat. Had Drew started and played all series the game would have never gone to OT.
