Yeah, let's not get carried away. I love joe, but let's not forget he's played pretty much all preseason against vanilla defenses manned by scrubs that will be selling car insurance after this weekend.

I didn't know a blitz was vanilla.

He just missed a 1st on the 3rd and long scramble. Don't know if Joe is making mistakes controlling the offense, or his teammates are jumpy and undisciplined.

Teams like the Rams being weak at QB will make Joe valuable to the Panthers, even if the plan is just to trade one of them. With Cam beaten up this pre-season, it would be foolish not to carry a 3rd QB, and Joe has been solid in that role and knows the Carolina playbook.

Yah, most everything i've read assumes he is going to spend another year on the practice squad, but there is a chance he gets cut outright, he is basically competing with an undrafted FA from this year for that PS spot.

Yeah, in the NFL an undisguised blitz is very vanilla. Teams dont show their blitz packages and dont show any of their man/zone mixes, zone blitzes or overload blitzes. They want to play basic coverage schemes that dont tell their first week opponents how they plan on attacking different sets.

Matt McCants of the raiders survived the first round of cuts, but many believe he will get cut this weekend. He is no longer practice squad eligible, and the raiders signed some OL in the draft. He got a lot of playing time last year due to injuries and did a pretty good job, so hopefully he hangs on.

Joe only had 1 pass for 1st down reception in the 2nd half. It was almost as if they were saving or protecting him.

They know what they have in Joe and have already decided to keep him on the roster. So with the lead in hand, they focused on establishing their running game and getting good looks at some O-linemen and Fozzy the RB.
