The Simpsons
The 12-day marathon started on FXX today. The first 10 seasons or so were great, especially season 6. I haven't seen some of the really good episodes in years, so it'll be fun to watch them again.

Homer at the Bat is a classic. Shave those sideburns, Mattingly!

Went way downhill after the first 10 seasons. Too much pandering to stars/celebrity guests and not enough writing. It used to be very clever.

I am proud to report that I have never watched an "adult cartoon" if that is the classification of this sort of show. I have seen Avatar, but I don't think that kind of show counts.

Most are not good. You are missing nothing.

The Simpsons are truly an exception. Extremely funny, top notch voice acting and incredible writing.

I guess it's all a matter of perspective and taste. I find Archer to be the funniest show on television and Bob's Burger to be the best written family comedy out there right now.

A generational thing for sure. American dad makes me laugh out loud the most.

Also as much crap as South Park gets it actually has some great points with Kyle and Stan being the moral compass and cart man being the total pos.

I never was a big American Dad fan. South Park is one of my all time favorite shows and I still think at its best South Park is the funniest show and one of the best shows on TV. I just think Archer gets there more consistently. I find that there are several South Park episodes a season where I don't laugh a bunch, but then it delivers a few brilliant episodes where I am losing it the entire time.

South Park also does great topical stuff really well(With Apologies to Jessie Jackson, Trapped in the Closet and Imaginationland being some of my favorites), but some of its best episodes are episodes that really have nothing to do with topical issues. (Scott Tennormen Must Die, Breast Cancer Awareness, Casa Bonita, Awesomo, and Ginger Kids are just some examples).

I love bobs burgers even though I don't necessarily laugh out loud, the writing is great. Pretty sure the writers are the same for bobs and archer.

RE: The Simpsons
it's great that south park i can watch on their website. that show cannot be any better. i'm particularly fond of adult cartoons. when i was younger and living with my mother, she had a television. there was a brief spell after my folks divorced and i was in my early twenties that i lived with my father and he had a television as well. when i lived with my father i would stay up until four in the morning watching adult cartoons as he was nightly postal worker and i was afforded to do so. anyway, sealab 2021 is the very best. i fell in love with dostoyevsky because of one innocuous quote from that show. it is so very funny. the brak show is quite great. aqua teen hunger force is/was rather brilliant. it's been a minute. metalacolypse is a cartoon version of spinal tap. actually, i've only exclusively watched adult cartoons, which shouldn't be surprising. exceptions being lost and seinfeld

yes, simpsons. i haven't watched in about 15 years. i caught an episode a few years ago and it seemed as if they were wringing homer dry

Not sure about the writing, but Bob IS Archer, which always throws me through a loop when I catch an episode. I assume the writing or production staffs for each are close considering they have had conversations regarding a crossover episode, which would be utterly hysterical.

Since I wasn't even 10 when the show first aired it was cool to watch the earlier episodes years later when I could fully appreciate all the pop culture references. Such a smart, well-written show.

Lisa's Substitute was on last night with Dustin Hoffman guest starring as substitute teacher, Mr. Bergstrom.

RE: The Simpsons
I stopped watching the Simpson's several years ago, when the show became too one-sided politically for my taste. Before that, it was a not-miss.

Bob's Burgers is the only adult cartoon I watch. Love the show. The music during the ending credits is unique to each show, and often damn great.

Love the characters.
