What A Game 45 - 42 Win Go Bears!!!!
What a game, it appears that we have the perfect 1st Game Rivalry in the makings, as this game have lived up to the billing for the second year.
Amazing how, both games mirrored each other, and both ending with last minute scoring and not scoring to end with a Bear Win.
I was impressed with the balance that we have in athletes both from last years team, and this year freshman, It took a total team effort, to pull this one out. Everyone was making plays, on defense and offense.
but one person that stood out and you kept hearing his name was: Tyler Ward, man did he play huge at the LB spot, with two of our leaders out on defense (Tosin, and Corey) it took all the veterans, and freshman like Jalen Penn, and others to be the next man up.
Great Game, I enjoyed it all.

The atmosphere was great. It was a great night to be the "Bear".

Bobby Lamb was asked if we would play Reinhardt again and he said, "Absolutely not". I would think the main reason is the schedule in future years will feature less non-Division 1 teams (and eventually 0 I'm guessing).

I think Reinhart is a hard team to stop with that type of offense, they hide ball very well and you gotta be able to stop the miss direction run game, or the pass, long night if you cant stop one of the two.
But I would like to see us keep them great rivalry game.
And good 1st game for us.

If you want to be a good IAA program then you do not need to keep scheduling an NAIA program. Its not worth it if you are on the bubble for a playoff spot.
At one time Morehead State was one of Marshall's biggest rivals. The 2 schools have played 46 times. But I would not even want to think about scheduling them now.
If Mercer recruits well and you can then see the disparity in talent, those of you that want to keep them on the schedule would quickly change your minds.

You're right HerdZoned.. sometimes you have to pick logical games above "rivalry" games. And Mercer/Reinhardt is not even a rivalry. We'll have legitimate rivalries develop in the SoCon in the coming years. Maybe a team like Kennesaw State outside of the SoCon for a nice OOC rival (depending how their program looks when it's completed of course).
