Would there be any interest in a CSN Playoff Committee?
Basically what the title says; we'd have a group of BBSers from (hopefully) a diverse background of conferences so we can "compare notes" to how the actual committee picks the playoff field. My thought process is we don't have to wait until late October to start predicting, but starting right off the bat might be a tad premature.

My thoughts for how I could see it going:
  1. Each committee member would get a ballot in the form of a Google doc either late Saturday night or early Sunday with a deadline of 6 PM ET Sunday.
  2. Each spot on the ballot will be weighted on a certain number of points to help create a basic framework of who should be in what bowl; i.e., your #1 team receives 25 points while #25 gets one point. The top four teams will be deemed the playoff teams, and committee members will be responsible for noting their non-playoff bowl choices. For example, if you want Oklahoma State in the Cotton Bowl, you'd type Oklahoma State (Cotton).
  3. As a result, committee members will also vote for what teams end up in what bowl. The top 2 vote getters for each game will make the bowl.
  4. In the event of a tie, committee members will be contacted for their vote as to how said tie should be resolved.

Ill volunteer, rather unbiased, I give rivals their due. Fan of a Big Ten school and a MAC school. Don't have a N vs S bias.

Also, we should start 4 weeks in, as to see what all teams have to offer.

I guess you are free to set it up however you like but why have an official committee? Just open it up each week to anyone on the board who wants to vote that week. I have seen some other boards do this with conference power rankings where everybody ranks the teams in order. Then one poor guy takes everybody's posts and adds up their votes. And why have a 6pm sunday deadline? Let the folks post their votes until tuesday.

Although I admit this sounds more complicated than power rankings. The average guy might get the rules wrong.

But like I first said its up to you since sounds like you are volunteering to do all the work adding everything up. Sounds interesting. Good luck.

As you can see from all my "be the committee" posts, I'm very interested. I agree with starting it after week 4. I disagree with goofus...get at least 15 guys who are interested to committing to this each week and use your GoogleDoc to do the hard work for you.

Based on the general demographics of this board, the MAC and AAC will have a dozen representatives each with one guy from WVU representing the "West".
