Notre Dame and Alabama are automatics. And I’ll agree with Connelly on the Kansas State entry. But I think this is another one where history could dictate our entrants. Has the SEC dominated the playoffs? Then I bet Georgia makes it in on the strength of their SEC title game loss. Has the Pac-12 had a strong showing? Then the Pac-12 champ (this time 2-loss Stanford) gets the nod. How extreme is the committee with their “anti-two-teams-from-one-conference” stance? In this case, I lean toward Georgia.

Mess grade (how much controversy would exist)—C.
Staples: ND, Alabama, Georgia, Florida (over Kansas State) (He is such an SEC shill...I'm so glad that Stewart Mandel went to FOX...now I never need to read SI.com anymore...)

The only thing for sure is the Big Ten champ is not getting a playoff spot this year. Boy 2012 was an awful year for the Big Ten. The conference really needed Ohio State or Penn State to be eligible that year.
