His guard skills may come along as he gets more real time experience and he may be able to slide further towards the 3 or possibly the 2. But he's long, tenacious on the offensive boards, a sneaky good defender in the post and brings matchup issues on the o-end.

The most important thing is that he buys into this role.

It seems that he is, in print anyway. His guard skills should come in handy finishing on the break. I can't imagine that many 4's will be able to outrun him or stay in front of him when he is finishing.

We will be one of the better teams in the country at the 4/5, well above average at the 3, and serviceable at the 2. We will go as far as Pookie takes us.

I had a few words with a coach who was really familiar with Pookie from the FL AAU. Really praised the system that Pookie came up in at Dr. Phillips and said that in a few years Pookie will be an all-conference PG. I've got high hopes.

The encouraging thing is that Pookie is a year older than other freshmen. It is reasonable to assume that if he went to prep school, he would have gone from a fringe top 100 recruit to somewhere in the 50-75 range. Anderson and Dozier were ranked similarly in their junior seasons and they had pretty good freshman seasons.

Damn I'm hungover but I actually agree with this assessment. Markel needs to be a Bobby Parks type as well. Glue guy
