I'll be happy to play them only in basketball and win 7 out of 10 times WHILE avoiding getting beat 10 out of 10 in football.

7 out of 10 is being very optimistic.

Very optimistic would be 9 of 10.

UTk is a hot mess right now. Memphis is poised to have a pretty good 4-5 year run and all (recruiting) signs would point to Memphis being able to keep up their momentum.

I get where you are coming from, though.

It is and always has been football for basketball with the bordering SEC teams. The problem is that SEC stadiums have gotten larger and the money they are charging for those seats greater. It is not advantageous to schedule home and homes outside of a highly marketable match up. The teams used to venture off and schedule another non conference home and home outside of the Marque one. Not anymore, they look for a cheaper rent a win and make bank with a built in fleecing of a sub par game that ups the overall price of their season ticket package. That's what happened to the Arkansas game that was to be played in Fayetteville. LA Monroe was desperate to stay attendance eligible for D1 and offered Arkansas a package of games at War Memorial at a greatly discounted rent a win price as long as Arkansas allowed them to count the attendance since Little Rock games are technically neutral site games in the eyes of the NCAA. It had to start the year of the Memphis game so Arkansas backed out of it to start that deal. That arrangement has expired now.
