ESPN the magazine ranking for Memphis
They have Memphis ranked 82 with their offense ranked 103 and defense ranked 64. We are ranked above SMU, Temple, USF, UConn, and Tulane

A bowl game would work wonders for this program. I believe we can do it.

a good defense is the foundation....it can keep you in games as the offense learns to gel

Yep, and that happened quite a bit last season lol. If our offense is better this season 6-7 wins is not out of the question.

Just curious, are their enough team that win at least 6 games to leave some out of bowls?

Yeah, but they wouldn't leave out a AAC team. That honor would go to the leagues below us. Especially being a partner with ESPN.

The O doesn't even have to be that much better either (hopefully they are of course)...wideouts drop less passes, pick up more first downs, run some clock and change field position...give the D more rest between possessions.

If the HC doesn't throw the season like last year, we should be fine.

Defense was 39th nationally last year and 12th against the run. It should be improved this year. OOC is harder but conference is easier so how did we drop to 64th? Don't people do research any more?

Our defense will be sternly tested in the UCLA game. If we can keep them from going wild, we can hang with anybody.

Let's not start this crap again. For every dropped pass last year there was a pass thrown that was not catchable or was caught by the other team. Blame for poor passing game can be placed on both the QB and the receiver.

and a missed tackle and the play calling and the reffing...and any combo of those reasons.
