“Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, those countries are laughing at us because they’re making money with their corrupt governments in conjunction with these international criminal cartels, they’re all making money and kickbacks,” Mrs. Bachmann said last week during a conference call with members of NumbersUSA, an anti-immigration group, Mediaite reported.

“If we have a 100 percent tax on these remittances… we would have a phone call in five minutes from the presidents of these countries saying, ‘What can we do? We want to keep this money flowing into our economy,’” she said.



“What we have to recognize is this truly is a war against the American people, and if we don’t act like it and take this border seriously, we’re going to have even more criminal gangs,” she concluded.

The congresswoman made similar comments in an interview with CNS News last week.

“The United States is furthering this international criminal cartel enterprise. We are furthering it because we are offering the gold at the end of the rainbow and we are stopping no one from coming in,” she said.

Who really needs to suffer are the businesses that are paying them. I don't care what that does to prices. These companies need to be punished severely.

These people are cash players. There would be no way to tax that. They work under the table.

You tax it at the money transfer offices. You can increase the scrutiny of international transfers.

The US treasury has incentive to allow this to continue. Money is withheld from paychecks and will never be paid back. It is free money for SS and general revenue. The IRS could crush this by making invalid SS numbers and reissuing numbers to people whose numbers have been abused. The same way a CC company reissues a stolen CC. The US govt has allowed the abuse of the SS numbers and it is common knowledge among illegals. Another one of the incentives to abuse American taxpayers and for illegals to leach off the system. Americans are being gamed.

Exactly. My wife had her SS number stolen. The government came after us for taxes. We got it fixed but they never changed her number.

Is it wrong to expect illegals to pay their own way? The services available to them here are far more costly than what they pay for. Bachmann is just making that point.
