I'll say what I've said all along. Our best chance at inclusion is getting the best basketball schools from the big east, American & Mwc & form one hell of a basketball only league that could make the basketball side a 6 league power structure.

Umm... Our best chance of inclusion is to build a successful football program.

Some just don't seem to understand that. Yet they prefer calling others stupid. WOW!!!!

Yep, being stupid is how these guys got where they are. 03-lmfao

The Peter Principle could very well be an alternative conclusion.

I don't know.. Watching a bowl game that involves two teams with losing records doesn't sound very fun to me

Media folks aren't stupid. They know that hardly anyone would watch two losers from the bottom of the P5 conferences play football.

That's why I don't think the worst scenario is going to happen. Follow the money. right?

I've managed to boycott watching any complete NBA game since the 2004 Pacers-Pistons fiasco. Doing the same with NCAA Football won't be that difficult. And, to the contrary, media folks ARE that stupid.

Actually if you have a position, why not state it in a eloquent manner rather then making a series of absurb comments that every one on this board that has a brain knows is senseless. Our AD did not get where he is today by being stupid and senseless. Saying what you said is actually an insult to the University that hired him.

It is what it is fellow dallasite. I think we can all probably agree that if he really believes what he said, then we are doomed.
Remember please that the head hunting firm that recommended both our AD and Football Coach was based in Plano (for you non Texans that is a Dallas suburb).

Think you are the clueless one.

Now the AD's and coaches at schools like Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State should be a little anxious about what lies ahead. Probably should change that that 'little' to a 'lot'.

Arkansas dwarfs Ole Miss and Miss State in donations and support. They will still be standing after anything that happens. So will Ole Miss and State.

From the Razorback Foundation site July 21 '14 - "Under the direction of Executive Director Sean Rochelle, the Razorback Foundation has exceeded $20 million in the Annual Fund for a third-consecutive year, but just as importantly the Foundation Team has made personal contact with more Razorback Foundation members than ever before."

From 2011 to 2013 "Diving into the numbers behind the Bulldog Club the last two years, nearly $70 million toward MSU athletics"

The reported donations of the programs are surprisingly close.

In the 2011-2013 time frame:
Arkansas: $62 milllion
MSU: $57 million

Just as a comparison, our donations were $33 million in that time period.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/s.../finances/

I'm not an accountant, but because these are revenue numbers, I believe that they exclude donations for capital projects.

Ole miss raised $118 million. But of that only 53.4 million for athletics, & that was over 2 years. Per the CA.

RE: Is our current AD stupid?
Well the AAC is clearly the best of the non-power 5, even with the departure of Louisville. With the MWC a close 2nd, those 2 a full step above everyone else. So the thought that those 2 conferences would not ultimately be included in whatever happens is silly long term. At the very least the top schools from those 2 conferences will be absorbed. At least that's the current thinking. In fact that has been the thinking for many years now.

Yes. Make your teams as strong as you can; and tv, if nothing else, will take care of expansion and inclusion.

Both have their uses. But 'some' is not 'all'.

That's the problem. Most people (outside us) would just as soon watch a 5-7 SEC team, as a 6-6 AAC team. That's what the numbers seem to show, according to the TV experts. If true, then that's bad for us.

Remember, this isn't a done deal yet, just rumblings from the P5. If allowed to happen, it would hurt us a lot.

Hey TripleA - what's the latest on realignment from what you're hearing (I know you always have your ear to the ground on it!)? I heard Milner this morning on 560am, and he mentioned the idea of the Big 12 expanding (not sure if he meant if Texas were to leave, or if they would expand on their own) and having Cincinnati and Memphis as two possible targets. His context was that, with the changes made these last few days, winning in football this season is more important than ever for the potential future of the University. Thoughts? Always appreciate ya, man.

Milner has it right, and that is without Texas leaving. We have been flirting with the B12 for a good while now. We were close to getting in with Cincy, b/c the B12 was feeling pressure from the other P5 conferences to play a CCG. But then the ACC proposed to alter the rules requiring a CCG, and it looks like that will pass, and kill the B12's need to expand. They would be able to play a CCG with 10 teams.

However, they supposedly told us if we get to a bowl game the next two seasons, they would keep us in the loop, if they decide to expand. The loophole is, we have to do it the next two years. If we don't, that likely closes the only slightly ajar door open to us. Then it becomes a matter of whether our boosters have the fortitude to keep funding us to be competitive, with such a huge financial disadvantage, if we don't make the B12.
