Didn't we learn our lesson last year to avoid secret scrimmages? Not only do we get our butts kicked and humiliated, but we are also forced give up a Div I home opponent for Div II LeMoyne-Owen during the regular season. Who makes these decisions?!

We gave up an exhibition game. So you are upset that we are playing D1 St. Louis instead of Motlow state or somebody similar? I like testing the guys before the season.

I don't think it's worth giving up an out-of-conference DivI home game to "test" the guys like this, especially when it also involves giving up an exhibition game.

The extra LeMoyne game in the middle of the season last year was due to a premature exhibition commitment that Pastner made before deciding to do the secret scrimmage.

Being a man of his word, he honored his promise to LeMoyne for a game against them.

Did not work out well for us scheduling-wise, etc., but I appreciate the integrity.

So does this mean it won't happen again this year? Somehow I get the feeling we have "committed" ourselves to playing a DivII game each year for now on. I thought only cupcakes played DivII games during the season. I don't exactly consider it "integrity" to commit to exhibition games only to punish fans later with fewer countable DivI home games. We've had commitments for games with Gonzaga and others in the past, yet no loss of "integrity" happened when these games got delayed into future seasons when conflicts occurred. I'd think this would be the same situation.

I like closed scrimmages against good D-I teams. I miss seeing the Tigers play, but it gives our team the opportunity to test and learn in a manner not possible against a D-II or D-III school.

I believe substituting an exhibition game for a regular season game is not allowed. As previously stated, the only options are two exhibition games, or one exhibition game and a closed scrimmage

There is no such thing as getting ones butt kicked in a secret scrimmage when its not even in a Div 1 basketball format. There's a continuous running clock and the coaches can stop the players at anytime to instruct or direct and there is attempts to try different matchup scenarios

I'm thinking they are allowed to play more than 40 mins...too.

1st of all, if you don't consider what Pastner did as having"integrity", then you don't understand the meaning of the word.

Further evidence of this is when you choose to use such strong language as "punish the fans"; then refuse to take responsibility for this language (and assault on any rational person's sensibilities) via disclaimer at the bottom of your post.

You seem to be using this forum to convey a rather confused train of thought that mirrors your basic outlook on life.

JMO-of course.

We did several "secret scrimmages" during Calipari's tenure.

The rule is-- you can have two exhibition games, or one exhibition game and a closed scrimmage.

Last year, if I understand right, Pastner originally committed to two exhibitions, then changed his mind and wanted to do the closed scrimmage. But LeMoyne would've been out the revenue, so he scheduled them as well, due to the prior commitment, because it was the right thing to do.

Just pay them and move on- don't schedule them.
