2014-15 C-USA basketball schedule
So here's what we know for the conference portion of the C-USA schedule

1/02/15
1/04/15
1/08/15 at Marshall
1/10/15 at Western Kentucky
1/15/15 vs Rice
1/17/15 vs North Texas
1/22/15
1/24/15
1/29/15
1/31/15
2/05/15
2/07/15
2/12/15 at UTSA
2/14/15 at UTEP
2/19/15
2/21/15
2/26/15 at Rice
2/28/15 at North Texas
3/05/15 vs Marshall
3/07/15 vs Western Kentucky

Also known: @UAB & @MTSU, @UNCC, vs UNCC
Unknown: USM, LTU, FAU, FIU

I'm pretty disappointed that we got Rice and North Texas as our 2nd H&H partner. I was hoping for UTEP & UTSA or USM & LTU. It also raises the question, who will be having a H&H with FIU and FAU if not us?

Glad our schools got paired as travel partners. I'll be happy to see ODU come to Halton every season.

Any idea what kind of a alumni base you have in the Charlotte area? I see ODU stuff around occasionally.

Just updated the schedule. Does C-USA think Norfolk is in Texas? Cause ODU plays every at every C-USA Texas team (NT, Rice, UTEP, UTSA).

RE: 2014-15 C-USA basketball schedule
Looking at it, it looks like we will have USM, LTU, FIU and FAU at home.

known:

Away: MU, WKU, UNCC, Rice, NT, UAB, MTSU, UTSA, UTEP
Home: MU, WKU, UNCC, Rice, NT

since we're playing 18 games, we get 9 home and away games. The away games are full, so the rest are at home.

So, the home schedule will be: Marshal, Western Kentucky, UNCC, Rice, North Texas, Florida International, Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech. That's pretty good if ya ask me.

Glad I got my tixs. They should take two of the Texas games and give us a 2nd MTSU and UAB game, but it will be fun to beat Rice (Mike) twice.

Yes, it will be nice to beat Rhoades twice. He has left the building. I mean my town.

Once the women's schedule is released you will be able to see who/when we play at home. The teams the men play at home are the counterparts the women are playing away.

Overall, this is one challenging schedule. Starting conference play with 3 road games @Charlotte @Marshall @Western Kentucky, will test this team early. Later on, road matches against UAB and UTEP...we will really see how good this team is.

5 of first 7 conference games on the road. Might not be good for a team with so many newcomers in vital roles. However lots of home games down the stretch as the team gels before the conference tourney is nice though.

RE: 2014-15 C-USA basketball schedule
I also do not like playing six games against former CAA teams either. Lazy schedule making. But money saving travel I guess with 5 of them at home. If We wanted to play that many old CAA teams at home why leave the conference.

Just uninspiring non conference schedule. Half the OOC is old CAA teams. How freaking boring. I feel like we should be posting at the CAABozone come November till the New Year. Granted half of those six are now A-10. But still come on they're still ex-CAA. I'd rather pick up George Washington once in a while than the ticks again.

Though the bright side is the patsies should stink even more this year.

They're in-state schools I don't have a problem playing the former CAA schools.

The away games in early Jan. are at least during winter break. Having the home games down the stretch helps.
A lot of these non conference games are probably contracted and cannot be broken. Blame the old regime for that scheduling.

These are return games from last season, meaning this regime. An argument can be made that JJ and Donohue constructed the sched last year on short notice. My only gripe is this year's schedule had one opportunity for a splash game if they were able to get one. Instead they just added guaranteed MEAC games.

I don't find the schedule that bad nor am I bothered by the additional guarantee games; more home games is a good thing.

W&M is the only series I'd want to see off the schedule as they'll seldom have a respectable RPI. George Washington would be a good replacement.

I am sure we could have picked up Duke, Carolina, or maybe Syracuse. It would have been at their place with no return game. We haven't been killing the RPI the last couple of years. We are still a mid-major. ACC schools or SEC are most likely not going to come here.

RE: 2014-15 C-USA basketball schedule
Wow when did UNCW & Ga St move to Virginia?

As to other comments. Bull crap. When we were good and had better rpi's than tek or the French no one except Georgetown came here. We're a mid and few of the P5 schools would travel here. Where in my post did I suggest otherwise? You don't have to play P5 schools to get a good schedule. I'd rather schedule the better mids than crap teams like UNCW or Bill and Mary and Ga St. Or how about those great RPI schools like NC A&T or Md eastern Shore. Why not Univeristy college of Maryland University School College....or whatever stupid name it goes by.

I am just saying this is lazy scheduling. I guess the staff is too busy offering every PG within 1,000 miles to actually create an interesting schedule.

I think it is OK to play all our old CAA buddies. Just not all in one freaking season.

Ga. State is going to be very good this year with Hunter and their high major transfers. I'm with you on getting other better mids though. A-10 would be a good place to look IMO. St Joes, GW, Dayton have all been on the schedule before.

RE: 2014-15 C-USA basketball schedule
I for one, have interest in playing UNCW with Kevin Keatts as the coach, that was one name thrown around as a coaching candidate here. Talked to him right after we hired JJ, nice guy, very approachable. Was suprised when he said ODU hadn't contacted him.

GaSt is an easy game to get to, with all the travel troubles we had last year we need to schedule untaxing road trips. GaSt is no weak team, they went 17-1 last year in the SBC.

Being in a new conference it's nice for the team to have some game against teams where they know where the locker rooms are and know the laid of the land.

RE: 2014-15 C-USA basketball schedule
This schedule, while not exactly full of names that are attractive, and not great for filling the Ted, could actually be quite good for RPI. The trick to a good RPI is winning a lot of games, and not playing terrible teams. This schedule, in a best case scenario, actually does provide that. I do however agree that it would have been much better if that last slot was filled with a top 50 rather than a bottom 50. If we somehow make our way to the bubble, which I really don't see happening, that one game could be the difference in making the tournament and not making it.
