RE: ND/ACC finalizing future games
There's an interesting thread on the techsideline conference realignment board about how ND is going to join the ACC full time by 2018. It's all based on tweets by the dude of Minnesota. The reasoning is 2 fold, ND will be left out of the playoffs a few times and prefer an easier path to the CFP through the ACC and some how this scandal is going to force them to join. I don't buy either reasoning as ND won't be left out unless they have 2 losses and every one else in the CFP has 1 loss or less and the scandal forcing them into the ACC makes no sense.

The only thing I've ever seen to even hint at a good reason for ND to join the ACC in football is bowl money - if there is a big enough disparity (e.g. ACC teams are guaranteed a cut of the Orange Bowl, but ND isn't).

03-shhhh

Not based off the Dude of Minnesota but I find Swarbrick's comments in regards to Independence as kinda weak. Swarbrick will be retired in 5 years or less so for him to say these things won't change in his professional career isn't a long term thing.

RE: ND/ACC finalizing future games
The first two places that I would expect to hear anything about such a move and it have any real traction behind it would be from VT and WF. Steegar was active with Hatch and the two schools that changed up things to help accommodate ND this year and with Purdue are VT and WF.

That being said, anything like that remains down the road.

Sure are a lot of Purdue folks around the ACC these days.

You might want to ask Loh.

Our goal is to maintain independence. But you never say never. It’s not that we prefer to ever pursue an alternative, but you could imagine further changes down the road, as people project further consolidation of conferences. I don’t think that’s going to happen, at least not during my professional career, but that’s the only way we’d do it.

RE: ND/ACC finalizing future games
In other ND scheduling news, it looks like ND may cancel the remaining 4 games with BYU.

http://www.vanquishthefoe.com/2014/8/20/...ting-irish

"Getting high-profile opponents to LaVell Edwards Stadium has been one of the biggest challenges for the Cougars since becoming an independent, so if there is anyway Holmoe can convince the Irish to complete at least one of the trips to Provo it would be a big win for the BYU AD."
