New member suck ups. Either that or Blazr is now writing for the Hampton Roads newspaper.

Yep, we are much better off with UTSA, when before, we had Louisville and Marquette.

I just took the article to mean that no one else could have done better given the circumstances. I agree. Several could have done worse. At least we don't have Karl Benson.

Banowsky created some (probably most) of his circumstances.

I didn't realize he convinced the AFC and Big 10 to raid the Big East.

This doesn't just go back to the latest realignment phase, you know.

No, but according to those in our athletic department at the time, he had the chance to twist the knife in the Big East at the onset of the first wave and chose to see how things played out giving the Big East time to regroup. A more forward thinking commish would have moved mountains to get those three schools (Pitt, West Virginia and Virginia Tech) admitted within moments after the phone rang.

Remember, Syracuse was originally the third ACC invitee until the state of Virginia forced the U of Virginia to press for Va Tech.

It goes back to when the ACC raided the Big East in 2003. At that point Louisville made it abundantly clear they wanted in the Big East. By doing that any chance C-USA of convincing Pitt etc from joining us vanished.

Funny, because Pitt called C-USA asking for admittance not the other way around. If those three had been presented to the existing members for admittance immediately there would have been no football Big East left. for Louisville to bolt to. It was only after C-USA chose to wait that Louisville began lifting its skirt to the Big East. I doubt they would have championed for inclusion led by Temple, Rutgers and Connecticut.
