But to fire a Head Coach when he is dealing with leftovers of a 'finesse' team when he wants to change to power football is way too premature. The vast majority of Pitt's talent is in its 2 lower classes, one of which was a full class of Wanns recruits. A HC deserves to at least see what 'his players' can do in the system he believes in.
We had a ton of true, RS and SO play this year and went through a lot of injuries. I think it was Jackie Sherrill who said, "for every FR I play means at least one loss." There is a lot of wisdom in those words.
Personally, as a Pitt fan, I would like to see an upgrade in cetain coaches, esp. at the DC position. We haven't been able to stop the run for 4-5 years now. That is inexcusable regardless of talent. It's time to hold the DC accountable for that.
But don't misunderstand the above, no excuses, I am pissed off that we lost to Rutgers, USF and UCONN. To me, Pitt lost to Rutgers more than they won. Pitt made a ton of mistakes in critical situations. We had no offense against USF and we were pathetic against Uconn on defense.
I hope and suspect there will be changes in year 3 of Wannstedts coaching career at Pitt.
good post, pitt83. hope things work out well for pitt, except when you play USF.

He was a loser at DA BEARS too (41-57). He was great with AMERICA'S TEAM under Jimmy Johnson with the DALLAS COWBOYS as the DC though.
Pittsburgh area loves him though. He was a finalists for the Steelers job in 1992 when Cowher got the job over him. Let him coach out his contract with his players and the system he brought in. He does have a winning record and personally I would like to see him succeed with the school that he came from as a player and at the school where he got his first coaching start under Majors. Loyalty still has to count for something in this day and age.
