Agreed. I do know for sure, from someone who has seen it, that it is a side view of a buccaneer/pirate like figure. Not the straight on view like the current logo.

That scares me

A little worried about what is to come Wednesday as well, would like to see the end of the blue pirate mascot . . . but, have learned not to expect too much from these press conferences, keep wanting news on the stadium but nothing is ever said, just tell us the status of things (even if no decision has been reached, let us know the wheels are in motion)--please.

I too am hoping it is a home run. I plan on going to the event. I have no idea what to expect. But we have to remember that there will be people criticize the logo no matter what it is.

It just needs to look professional. To me, the stakes are higher because we currently have a great logo (the best in school history in my opinion).

We're set to play both football and basketball on the grounds of a local high school. The logo is the LEAST of my concerns.

This new logo I have a feeling is going to be unmitigated disaster. I hope I'm flat wrong and will admit it if I am, but my gut tells me they would've been better off modernizing the "ET," the striding Buc (which I'm convinced someone was drunk and staring at a bottle of Johnnie Walker when they came up with it, which is a good thing), or the script Bucs.
When Darth Bucky was released, they had a bunch of secondary logos that were released with it, and my favorite is still the shield logo with the swords.
Profile logos make me think it's going to be a rip off of the Philadelphia Eagles, the Falcons, or the New England Patriots.

Lame. So many things they could've done with a redesigned pirate/sword combination. Perhaps not the Tampa Bay style, but a variation of it.
Sales will dictate, and if nobody buys the stuff and you still see everyone wearing their shirts from the 80's and 90's to games, that'll send the message.

If it is the one that we saw already, I will promise that I will not be caught wearing or displaying anything with that on it.

This was a missed opportunity in my opinion. While the new Bucky isn't terrible, the E looks like something an 8 year old designed. They could've done better. I really wanted to buy some new gear, but I'm just not sold on the E.

you know I didn't like the E at first but it grows on you, also everyone I've talked to from other schools seem to think its really sharp, really was anything gonna be good enough for cynical bunch that is the ETSU community

Agree, it grows on ya. KISS makes sense. It's East Tennessee with the state university there -- if that can't be spotted, then you probably ain't college material. After all, the university is focused on prospective students while hoping former students will jack it up a notch with donations.

I still don't like the E, but I will say that most of the shirts and other material that they have been selling is very professional looking. I am one that loved Bucky, and don't think that anything else would have been an improvement over that.

While it may grow on some people, I suppose it will just take longer to grow on others (like myself). I'll still support the program, I just think the new Bucky on the helmet would've looked better. On a side note, just because someone doesn't like the logo, doesn't mean they aren't supportive and not passionate about their team. Just wanted to throw that out there.

100% agree, not putting the new Bucky on the football helmet was a big mistake imo

The "E" on the football helmets will look ok as long as they put the new Bucky either on the sleeves of the jerseys or underneath the collar IMO.

I think that the new E logo looks sharp. Recent branding/logo changes earn an A+ in my book.
