So the multitudes of these threads by UCF/Cincy/UConn fans are okay, but we can't make one. Got it.

There is a significant difference between UCF/Cincy/UConn with regards to conference realignment. If you look hard, you might find it.

I hate UCF, but at least they've won a BCS game.
I hate UConn, but at least they've won titles in basketball.
I hate Cincinnati, but going to two back to back BCS games (despite losing) is still a feat.

You already know what I'm going to type for a response, but you chose to stir the hornet's nest, so here goes….

I'm hoping ECU goes back to C-USA East and embraces local rivals, Old Dominion and UNC-Charlotte.

"Mongo" told the rest of y'all (damn near 10 years ago) that, given the landscape, "Ye Ol' Alma Mater" would never sniff a down in the Big East (or any other "Power" conference), and that it would be in her best interest to align itself with regional like-minded schools.

At the time of that statement, ECU's regionally, like-minded schools were in FCS.

I was tickled when Old Dominion joined C-USA, along with Charlotte.

01-donnankungfu

Now, she bolted for a conference where the two of the three "TV Money" schools are looking for a "get out of jail free" card and will never regard ECU as a true equal, and is in a conference with Memphis football.

03-banghead

Heh… funny how that all worked out.

04-cheers

I don't think 65 is enough for P5
their a lot of G5 schools that have potential to move up
but they all have drawbacks
BYU & Conn are on top of the list
i'd said for 15 yrs East Car should be added to BE, but times change
EC biggest drawback is 5th school from NC
that doesn't help B-12 who would be looking for markets
i'd tend to agree EC & Hous could work for SEC

Thanks for the commentary from Nebraska. Move along now, nothing to see here.

I actually live in California but Greenville NC is such a metropolis (I've lived in Jacksonville, NC).

The problem that I see, is that now that the P5 are truly on the cusp of gaining autonomy, I don't know that they're going to be interested in expanding...at least, not until they sort out amongst themselves as to whether they'll stay at 5 conferences or consolidate down to 4.

Jet915 aren't you the same crybaby that was complaining everyday about how American fans ruined the old big east board? Isn't the longest and most active thread on holyland of hoops about the aac and our fans? Haven't you all noticed that we never ever discuss or care about you guys anymore? Why can't yall move on, it's really kinda creepy. When we finally get byu and sdsu and Boise with unlv we'lol come back and throw gtown and nova a life raft so that you other leaches can go back to that ghost network you all are on.what's it called fox sports 1 or something. This thread is the equivilant of a drunk driver causing an traffic accident, getting out of the car he just totaled and promptly getting in another car and keep driving, destined to cause another wreck.

When are ECU fans going to get through their heads they are not near the top of any P5 wish list. That they were picked 10th in a non-P5 conference of 11 teams. Just be happy you made it to the AAC. Thats as good as gets for ECU.

I've never understood why people like to talk "city / location smack". That goes for both Nebraska and rural NC. Honestly, wgaf?

Ok big hero, please tell us all which p-5 conference won a BCS bowl, MBB National championship, WBB National championship last year. Oh yeah that's right exactly none. Put another way the AAC out-performed every p-5 conference last year. I think you like to deny simple facts as an elitist cheer boy for p-5 conferences in spite of the reality that the AAC is the current home of the aforementioned trophies. I think some people mistakenly think the AAC didn't outperform the p-5 conferences in it's very first year.

They don't care about getting back to 12 teams. They want as much money as they can get, and a scheduling alliance that gets them into the BCS playoffs.

To me it seems that, with Texas in particular, they are less concerned with making as much money as possible, as they are with making more money than their competitors.

Otherwise they might have opted to the Big Ten or even the PAC 12.

Huh?

Texas is making more than anyone else. 15 million from the LHN with the potential for more and a competitive league contract gives them more than even the most aggressive realistic estimates I have seen from the rest of the P5. That is before you consider startup costs for getting them into a league network, exit fees, lower shares of bowl/playoff revenue, etc...

You can say a lot about them but they maximize their money pretty well.

I have to agree with adcorbett Baylor Bear Mod.... UT, TT, OU, and OSU in a PAC 12 with its own network would have made all the schools in that conference tons of $$$,$$$,$$$$. I think the PAC 12 would surpass the B10 with UT and the other three, which is why Scott and company were willing to take the other three with UT. Texas in the B10 would have placed that conference at a level the others could only dream about reaching financially....
