You guys complain about how the national media gives you no respect, even though the conference performance may be better than the MAC or CUSA in a given year. Well, the quote I responded to is a prime example of why that happens (and why we are a cultural misfit in the conference).

I honestly don't remember, but have you won an SBC game yet? Yes you are in a big market, but so are a lot of crappy programs. You have no stadium of your own and you are a commuter school. I think you have lots of potential, but your add was one many of us were scratching out heads at thinking we were reaching. You should just be glad you have a seat at ANY table right now.

However, please note that my original comment was not directed at ULM, but at a GaSot who thought that a Cammo-out was a great idea. Since they claim to get most of their students from Atlanta*, it is not quite the same as ULM doing it.

Atlanta has plenty of people who like camo.....they just don't typically go to Georgia State.

Certainly. However, if we had experienced any modicum of success, and had a decent AD, we would be in CUSA right now with ODU and UTSA. They were calling, our AD was just too enthralled by the lavish attention Benson was throwing her way to pick up the phone (true story - her actual words to me on the subject were "it is nice to be courted").

This elitist, holier than thou attitude from a lot of State fans is appalling. You DO realize this is the South, right? Just because a bunch of you skinny-jean and thick framed wearing hipsters think this is embarrassing and a reason why the SBC has traditionally had low perception, doesn't make it so. We true Southerners embrace this beautiful land filled with fowl, fish, and other wild game. It is a part of our culture, part of our heritage, part of our survival. To scoff at such just shows how out of touch with the South you really are. I'm sure others "get it".

The SBC's traditionally low perception was due to on the field performance during its early years. That perception isn't changing as quickly as the on the field performance, but I can assure you the perception had absolutely nothing to do with promotions...except for that God-awful money drop. Talk about selling your dignity.

This is just plain out brilliant marketing from ULM. I've never heard of a camo-out, and it appeals to the culture of the area and the university.

ULM - duck hunting apparel. "We get our own."
GAST - dropping IOU's from some bank to the kids. "Hand outs, please!"

Both original. One is embarrassing, the other is brilliant.
