European women's basketball championship
Jay-Ann Bravo-Harriott and Janice Monakana will be representing Great Britain in Division B of the U20 European champsionship, which starts today.

Elena de Alfredo is not on the Spanish roster. I don't know why.

RE: European women's basketball championship
In its first game, England beat Norway 47-32. Bravo-Harriott played 10 minutes, was 1-5 on 3-pointers, took no shots from inside the arc, was 4-4 from the line, and scored 7 points.

Monakana played 18 minutes, was 1-4 from the field and 2-2 from the line for 4 points. She had 4 rebounds and 7 turnovers.

Great Britain plays Lithuania later today.

I think Elena is hurt...a while back she tweeted, "If you can't run, find another options. Today I start my "refinement". One day less to come back. #positivism" and there was a picture of a pool. :(

Ten minutes, five three pointers. Young lady isn't shy, is she?

RE: European women's basketball championship
Monakana scored 6 in Great Britain's second game against Lithuania and 15 in the third game against Bulgaria, including 7-8 from the line. Bravo-Harriott didn't play in either game, which is odd given that she was the national U18 player-of-the-year last year. She was the only player on the roster not to play against Lithuania and one of only two not to play against Bulgaria. Perhaps she was hurt in the first game? Great Britain lost to both Lithuania and Bulgaria and is now 1-2.

That's what I'm thinking. Didn't play at all in the 2nd half of the first game either, after leading the scoring in the first half. Geesh we don't need any more preseason injuries.

Monakana led Great Britain in scoring the last two games. Bravo-Harriott has not posted any impressive stats, but she's playing again, so if she was hurt it was minor. England is now 2-3.

How big of a problem is foreign players missing summer workouts? Yes, they are playing for their countries' team, but we're talking about different rules, players, coaching... Not sure I like it.

Great Britain finished 4-5 in Division B of the European Championship. Monakana played in all 9 games and averaged 10.6 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 turnovers in just over 20 minutes per game. She got to the line a lot and made 83% of her free throws. Bravo-Harriott played in 7 games and averaged 3.0 points and 2.0 assists in 16.7 minutes per game.
