Never let your football program be killed. No matter how bad it gets...tie a knot and hang on.

Isnt the 1977 Greenie team supposedly the greatest team in the history of planet earth? I swear I've heard they had a team like that in the 70's.

1977 baby, #17 in the nation. Seared, seared I tell ya, in my memory. Who wouldn't remember that #17 ranking? The mere mention of 1977 brings it all back in an instant and I'm sure there are millions and millions, maybe even gazillions of college football fans out there like me. Just makes me want to chant, North Texas State, North Texas State, North Texas State.

I cant believe I saw a video of the great Hayden Fry in person. That was like...my life's dream. Such an awesome team in 1977...I mean who doesn't remember that year fondly nationally?

Hayden Fry. The mere mention of his name makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. A legend, a true legend is all that can be said about him. Bear Bryant couldn't hold his jock strap.

Biggest surprise to me is how much the game film looks similar to the modern game in terms of game speed.

Bear Bryant wanted to hold his jock strap. Hayden Fry was so good when Bo Jackson prayed, he prayed to Hayden Fry.

The difference between Hayden Fry and God, is that God knows he could never be Hayden Fry.

Lamar might be rethinking their decision to bring football back. Their home attendance is awful.

Those aren't awful numbers for FCS.

In terms of wins and losses of the teams played, a pretty weak schedule for sure, but still a good year for North Texas. Miss. State had to forfeit one of their wins against North Texas, not sure which year.
1977-North Texas (Independent)
9/3 @ Mississippi State (5-6) L 15 17
9/10 @ Texas-El Paso (1-10) W 41 10
9/17 vs. Southern Methodist (4-7) W 24 13 @ Irving, TX
9/24 vs. West Texas A&M (6-4-1) W 31 20
10/1 @ Richmond (3-8) W 47 14
10/8 @ Southern Mississippi (6-6) W 27 14
10/15 vs. Texas-Arlington (5-6) W 15 6 @ Irving, TX
10/22 @ Memphis (6-5) W 20 19
10/29 @ Florida State (10-2) L 14 35
11/5 vs. New Mexico State (4-7) W 45 17
11/19 @ Louisiana Tech (9-1-2) W 41 14
