RE: 10 Biggest Non-Conference Games for AAC football in 2014
If we can limit turnovers and getting beat over the top over our D, we have a really good shot @SC. We're catching them at the right time. Just 3 years a lesser pirate squad jumped out on those fools 17-0. That's when our D was garbage and that team had a case of unforced turnovers the bulk of the season. It wasn't anything they did to force them. If this team jumps on them, they are in trouble.

When I first mulled over this piece, I was expecting it might be tough to get to 10 meaningful non-conference games for AAC teams. Instead, I counted an astounding 24 games against Power Five teams or BYU/Boise State. More promising is that not all of these games are supposed “body bag” games where the AAC team is showing up to be a patsy. Sure Memphis to UCLA or Temple to Penn State may qualify, but Cincinnati visiting Miami begins a home & home series.

As college football moves to a playoff, there should hopefully be an added emphasis on non-conference games – this is crucial for the AAC as it needs to maintain its stranglehold on the “best of the rest” spot in the New Year’s Six bowls. Wins early against quality competition by any AAC team, just as in college basketball, will boost the strength of schedule for everyone.

This list is ranked on what a win would mean for the conference. But there was some thought put into the realistic potential for an AAC victory. As great as Memphis beating UCLA in the Rose Bowl or USF beating Wisconsin in Camp Randall would be, those odds are minute. I mean, let’s be honest, those are losses."

10) Temple at Vanderbilt
9) Georgia Tech at Tulane
8) Oklahoma at Tulsa
7) Cincinnati at Miami
6) East Carolina at Virginia Tech
5) UCF at Missouri
4) Texas A&M at SMU
3) Penn State vs. UCF
2) East Carolina at South Carolina
1) Cincinnati at Ohio State

This guy (and probably most of the newbies on this board) obviously haven't followed USF football very much. Big OOC wins were usually par for the course for USF until this past year or so. And even in last years miserable year. USF hung toe to toe with Michigan State @ East Lansing, without a serviceable QB, and MSU was a lot better than Wisconsin. This guy has no clue about USF history/talent level. I expect USF to be right there against Wisconsin. It will happen.

Um, if they've followed USF within the past 3 years then they'd come to the same conclusion that was already stated. Because your records have been 5-7, 3-9, and 2-10. And last year included blow out losses to FAU and McNeese State.

Aside from pride and bravado, there's nothing today to suggest that USF will beat an improved Wisconsin team that went 9-4 last year.

Do I really need to type out a list of USF's OOC victories. You did know that even in USF 5-7 season that you listed above, they defeated Notre Dame, right. That was my main point, up until recently, USF always had at least one big win...whether that was ND, Florida State, Miami, Auburn, etc.

USF was even with Michigan St until a second half INT return for TD. MSU is far better than Wisconsin (at least was last year). USF WILL be be competitive against Wisco. I never claimed USF would win.

And by the way, UCF needed a late score to beat USF at home in a game that was back and forth til the end. Would UCF be competitive against Wisconsin. If you say yes, then you have to agree that USF could also (seeing UCF barely defeated USF).

and usf lost to us and mcneese state. they gonna kill ya

2015
09/12 - at Kansas
09/19 - at Bowling Green
10/17 - Ole Miss
TBA - Missouri State

2016
09/17 - Kansas
09/24 - Bowling Green
TBA - at Ole Miss

2017
09/16 - UCLA
09/30 - Ole Miss
TBA - Tennessee

2018
TBA - Missouri

I dont know who in the conference is doing no return buy games, but dont look at us marv. wouldnt care if we did if the opponent was big enough and the money was really good. I think Bowling Green is filling a hole for Miami because they backed out.
