Sheeeeeee....some schools don't think they can do that. Don't tell them.

Huge 2015 recruit for South Alabama

From what I hear he's a great kid from a good family. His high school is a private school and high on academics, so it shouldn't be about grades. Being able to play both football and baseball helped to sway his decision. Both USA coaches are on happy to work it out for him!
Awesome! Not that I'm against grade risks but I love when I hear that it's not the reason.

Excellent and accurate. I might just have to steal that one.

This is the advantage USA over other programs. Urban area with zero competition from other programs. St Pauls isn't a slouch school academically, so he shouldn't have any qualification issues. So the only question is this....Do the rating services drop him by 1 or 2 stars for signing with a Sun Belt school. Great get for USA

Hummm.... zero competition from other programs eh? Bear Bryant just rolled over in his grave. Not trying to throw cold water on you but, he isn't signed yet and its a long way 'til February. Hope you guys can hold on to him.

RE: Huge 2015 commit for South Alabama
Recruiting is such a fluid thing. I bet most if not all Sun Belt schools have offered at a minimum 50 kids at this point and maybe far more than that. The kids are all jockeying to see who will offer them and where they think they fit best. So much can happen between now nad the first of February.
But in FBS it is obvious the recruiting is more intense, starts many months earlier than in FCS, and involves many more kids.

Don't be shocked if Penn State calls.
Guess they will tell you that you can't sign any of the four star players.
They must be right, they are PSU. They would never tell you something wrong about a kid.
Too strong? Probably, even though this has appeared
many times on the SBC board when MAC fans post.

He was interviewed on WNSP in Mobile and he said he is 100% committed to USA. I hope that doesn't change!

RE: Huge 2015 commit for South Alabama
Jalen Thompson was just on WNSP again for the morning show. Lee mentioned that several SEC schools have offered and asked about his South Carolina visit this past weekend. He also asked if he was 100% committed to USA. He said he was 100%. He is going to focus on his senior year and doesn't intend to visit anywhere else and other schools recruiting him will not bother him. He will play baseball for USA as was mentioned. He hit .320 this past year as a junior. He's excited about his commitment and plans on talking USA up to other recruits.

You know I think there will always be the potential to land a kid who is very convicted about what he wants to accomplish, and where he wants to accomplish that goal.....Kid who is not concerned about making sure there are 85K in the crowd to watch him his maybe Junior year or Senior year...... I really am not knocking the great big programs but surprisingly just getting PT (playing time) can get that NFL contract just as easily.....good luck with him because just his decision made like this his focus is obviously not on I am a super star and need the biggest stage because everything else does not deserve me.

RE: Huge 2015 commit for South Alabama
South Alabama does have that nice recruiting edge where if talent wants to stay home in Mobile, they have one choice. We can talk about Tuscaloosa and Auburn and Birmingham, etc... but home is home and that's important to some of these guys.

Not only will his stats probably be better with additional playing time, media attention will be larger on him particularly, and will enhance his
NFL or MLB positioning possibilities and eventually projecting down the road wind up making him more money would think.
