BSN '14 Predicted FCS/FBS Upsets
I had to come back and post this!!!

List here:

http://beyondsportsnetwork.com/2014-fcs-...edictions/

I especially love #1 - The most confident pick!

Quote:1. Liberty at Appalachian State – October 11th Appalachian State joins the FBS this season even though the program experienced a major drop off in 2013. Liberty Head Coach Turner Gill has his program going in the right direction with the Flames finishing the 2013 season with 5 straight wins. Liberty will be a team that will be in the hunt for an FCS Playoff Birth.

You all jest, but Liberty was much better than app state last season. I'd say the odds are in Liberty's favor this season.

2014 FCS UPETS OVER FBS TEAM PREDICTIONS
http://beyondsportsnetwork.com/2014-fcs-...edictions/

Quote:The 2013 FCS football season brought us a record number of FCS teams upsetting FBS opponents. The trend has become so frequent that Florida Head Coach Will Muschamp and Wisconsin Athletic Director Barry Alvarez requesting to no longer play FCS opponents. Last year the biggest upset of all was when Eastern Washington knocked off then ranked Oregon State. The upset that had the biggest impact on a program was Towson’s upset over UCONN. Towson’s win helped propel their season forward leading to an appearance in the FCS National Championship while the loss for UCONN created at downward spiral for the program that ultimately cost Paul Paqualoni his head coaching job. Last year I made 10 predictions for the FCS over FBS upsets and finished with a record of (5-5), which included a number of close calls. Below are the 13 FCS over FBS upsets for the 2014 season listed from most to least confident.

GoApp70 here's the latest one.

http://www.newsadvance.com/sports/libert...f6878.html

""N&A: Considering how much time has been put into making Liberty’s football program “FBS ready,” how frustrating has it been to show patience in letting the process work itself out?

JB: It’s been frustrating. But to see where we are after 42 years, and especially the last five or six, as we talked about a couple of weeks ago, we've just got to keep getting better. So yeah, it’s frustrating. We believe we’re ready. When that comes, we'll be very happy.""

App will have FBS caliber players on roster and more scholarships (ie: depth). If you didn't read it, I believe App fans on here told us they redshirted a lot of guys in 2013 that were FBS recruits. If you don't think it's a big deal or makes a difference, think again. It may only be their transitional year but it is still removed from FCS.

You say Liberty was better, but I say they only had a better record,
just as Faulkner University in Montgomery had a better record than Troy.
Doubt either was better than App State or Troy though.
So don't let your hate for App State cloud your judgement.

You had a good year, but Charleston Southern lost 27-10 to Gardner Webb the week before you played them, so evidently they had some problems by the end of the year.

GW was no push over last season. They beat FURMAN 28 - 21, RICHMOND 12 - 10, and Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C. 3 - 0. In fact I believe the Big South won the season series over the Southern last season?

By the time Liberty comes to Boone, our QB battle will be settled, our rather impressive group of incoming and returning WRs will be tested and our RB situation is deeper than ever.

Woody will have the defense completely dialed in as well.

Gardner Webb seemed like a pushover when Liberty beat them 24-0.
Lost to VMI 27-9...VMI who was 2-10 on the year.
Lost to UNCC by 2 points. Lost to Coastal 42-7. Lost to MU 55-0.
And that Wofford game you mention was played in a terrible hurricane type rain storm. They may not have been a big push over but Charleston Southern was not the same team late in the year.

Guess we will just have to show up and play LU to see. Maybe we will get lucky. ha,ha
