Recruiting
Below is what I see as our class breakout. I am not sure if I have all of the walk-ons categorized correctly, but I think that i do. You can have 13 players, so I think Lang transferring took us down to 12 on scholarship. Also, my understanding is the a couple of the walk-ons are pretty good.

It appears that we need a PG, SG, and then just best available player (maybe a real athletic 3, though that may be Benkert). Thoughts?

SR (2 Scholarship)
Chamberlain – PG
Mobley – SF (walk-on)
Turner – SG

JR (2 Scholarship)
Bradshaw – SG
Laidig - SF

SO (4 Scholarship)
Barnette – SG
Bradds – SF
Chowbay – PG
Smith – PF

FR (4 Scholarship)
Egekeze – PF
Hadden – C
Lester – PF (walk-on)
Luke – PG
Mercer – C
Sampson – G/F (walk-on)

Commits (Space for 2 or 3?)
Benkert – G/F

Northside, I believe you are accurate on your list. I agree with you on the pg. I would like to see us get a quick point guard that can penetrate and finish at the rim.

I think Chowbay can be a really good PG. Any word on how Austin Luke looks? I think having another Kerron or Renfroe would make this bunch the most special group we have had.

Byrd mentioned at one of the luncheons that he and the coaching staff are not sure that the point guard position is the best position for Chowbay. I took it that they are feeling that a shooting guard position is best for him. He also mentioned that Austin was looking great in practice, but the real test are the games and that would reveal how good he is.

With that said, I would love to get another pg with great quickness and an ability to penetrate. Couple that with the smarts to know when to dish it off and when to finish at the rim. I am with you, another Renfroe or Kerron would be perfect.

That is interesting, as Chowbay hasn't shown that he's a knock-down shooter just yet. He seems to have PG athleticism and good size for PG (not great SG size). Thanks for sharing. If that is the case, we REALLY need a quality PG recruit badly.

Recruiting
Saw that we got a verbal commit from a 6-6 shooter from Indiana named Dylan Windler. I' m assuming that he is related to Drew Windler but not sure since they are from different states. Sounds like he has had a good AAU summer and appears to fit our style perfectly. http://www.indystar.com/story/recruiting.../7705637/. We are recruiting hard from the state of Indiana!

Longtime lurker here - finally decided I had something productive to add.

Website I almost use as a crutch during the offseason to keep up with Belmont on the recruiting trail. http://www.verbalcommits.com/schools/belmont

Glad to have you join us. Yes, I love Verbal Commits too. I like to view other schools of interest to see what is happening with them too.

One of the things I've noticed is that UT Martin has really come on strong with recruiting this year. Their first year coach is really getting after it.
