UK - for enduring the unendurable
US - for beating the Japanese and playing a huge role in Italy, France, and North Africa
USSR - For absorbing huge military losses and fighting throught

The soviets used their non aggression pact with the NAZI's to annex several nations and split Poland up... If Hitler had had an ounce of sense and let sleeping bear lay he could have mopped up western europe and eventually forced UK to the table.

Would think USA. Britain always was concerned with their empire.
We normally have stepped in to fight aggression without being as
concerned about keeping or getting some territory.

I think all of you are missing an essential point in history. China invented many things we take for granted today.

wasn't trying to say that. just saying that i disagree with the notion that we didn't do the same as well in some form.

Not really. Just prior to the contact with Europeans, intellectuals took power in China, destroying their massive navy and much of their military. So it's not a question as to how it happened. The question is why it happened.

Had the intellectual revolution never taken place in China, the Europeans would have found a Chinese navy far superior to the Europeans, and a massive military capable of defeating any invader. Remember, the Chinese had gunpowder. The Europeans didn't gain that until after sailing to China.

Yea, Canadians and all. The Commonwealth.

I remember learning that fact as a kid when I was simply blown away that my English friend in Tunisia did not have green army men.
