DeMarco will beat Beason in the runoffs though.

Brooke & Palmer should end up 3rd & 4th in the primary.
Mathis hopefully won't be anywhere close to getting in the runoffs.

John Merrill was my dissertation adviser at the University of Missouri. Not this guy. This guy:

My last trip to Birmingham was for his funeral.

Now that I think of it, I guess a dead guy could run for office in Alabama, given how corrupt the politics are there.

Why not? Dead people regularly vote in Chicago.

They seldom steal though. Their Social Security checks may still be getting cashed, but I doubt the dead person is doing it.

Merrill was actually the most recent person to be elected SGA President at Alabama NOT in the machine. His politics are actually less Tuscaloosa than some others, but I didn't know he was anti OCS

Merrill is running for Sec. of State which is not an office in the mainstream of state politics. That is why it was usually held by women during the 20th century - it had little to do with anything important until "Voter ID" became an issue.
