Rice looks like they could absolutely care less. We may have to wait until February for our next hard hit ball (or baserunner, for that matter). At this point I'd put our odds of playing next week at about 3%. I hope they prove me wrong.

Hunter K throws out Statum on a SBA (or maybe a hit-and-run on a high fastball). 2 out.

It's obviously early but it was easy to smell this start coming after last night's emotional loss. Still early, though.

RE: Sunday elimination game vs. Aggies
One-out worm-burner backs up Stainback a bit ... and a double-clutch, low throw to Ewing is late. (Ewing didn't hold it either, BTW).

Hit & run attempt ... runner's out by half a mile! Yay!!

Aggie Bratsen singles to right. Second guessing time in Aggieland.

Pop up to no-man's land between LF, CF & SS ... caught by Byrd. "Byrdland"

Whew!

Still scoreless, heading to T3.

The good news is McDowell seems sharp enough. Ump doesn't have a particularly big strike zone but Chase is working out of some jams. 0-0 after 2.

A wide strike turns Bryd's two-out walk to a 3-2 count. Two fouls later he's out on a soft, liner to CF.

Scoreless heading to B3.

Ray is handling our hitters with ease. Nothing hard hit at all from the Owl batters.

Well we fail on a 4-6-3 DP (I'd blame Ford's throw more than Ewing that time). But the next pitch is an even easier 6-4-3 DP. No score after 3.

Next pitch: grounder to Tekyl ... 4-6-bobble by Ewing. (Low throw bounced.

Next pitch: grounder to Stainback: 6-4-3, DP. That's the way to do it, Owls. (Tekyl's throw to Ewing was high ... but he got it. Nothing's easy for Sylker so far today. Maybe hitting a dinger or two would calm him -- and the rest of the Owls -- down a bit.)

Nice (second attempt at) DP by Owls to end the third inning.
We need to wake up the bats.

Warren sneaks a leadoff single through the middle!

But after a flyout, Ewing hits into a 5-4-3, inning ending DP. Grrr.

Scoreless heading to B4.

They also just mentioned a nice piece of news from the MLB. Brock Holt is 4x4 today with four doubles!

Nice: Maybe Boston will decide to keep him this time.

Hard to say exactly, but it seemed like Skyler watched that ball toward third a little longer than usual before he started his run to first. May have thought it was going foul.

Excellent McDowell's reference as we went to a break:

This is like watching two wishbone teams tied 0-0 at the half. I can't wait for the new balls next year.
