Why hire? We can lose just as well with one less coach and save money in the process!

It gets their 'post count' up Dunk... and for some, 'post count' = street cred re: knowledge of JMU athletics/leadership. These common themes should be auto added as bullets at the top of every new post:

Ok, we all get it.
- JMU is cheap
- JB/CK and our Prez suck
- CAA for life (sarcastically said, of course)
- JMU leadership has completely failed and continues to fail
Move along.

The issue shouldn't be the joking responses, but that the joking responses are very much the truth....

So, why bother? If you "believe" the above to be true why do you put yourself through the aggravation? I'd find something more positive to invest my time and money in if I believed the way you do.

I think bringing up the issues is healthy. Some people have raised excellent points and concerns. Many are valid. But the redundancy of the bitching and complaining is rather pathetic.

Negative! But it's an idea where we save money! POSITIVE SPIN!

RE: Rob Summers
Coach Summers is a good guy. It actually says a lot about him as a person and the JMU basketball program and coaches that he could go from the operations guy at JMU to a D2 head coaching position. He has been around a lot of good coaches, including the ones at JMU and they obviously helped him prepare for his new position. I hope he does well.

Just as an FYI, I believe he was talking about his response as being the joking one, not yours.

RE: Rob Summers
Why bother?

Because we love our alma mater, if not some or all its administrators.
Because sports unites alumni and provides a relaxed opportunity for networking among friends.
Because we remember the great moments in JMU sports history where supposedly "small school" athletes re-enacted the David vs. Goliath story on the field of play.
Because we want our families and friends to witness more moments in JMU sports history to share in the excitement and passion for the institution we all love.
Because while others may have spent their hard earned money elsewhere, we have invested in student athletes and want the best for them and their legacy.
Because to us, it matters.

We used to play up or at least on par. Now others play up to us and we down to them. Although casual fans may not care, that is not a trend that is taken lightly among the passionate fanbase.

That's why.

That post was not directed at Dunk or any negative poster. It was directed at our whole fanbase and community. We do have reason to keep vocalizing our frustrations, and in that positive vane I wanted to remind us all not to give up.
