Hard to believe it wouldn't (especially if we are to believe your and others' claims of their income being hugely tied to their comments/hits) ...but even if it doesn't...the ceiling is much higher for him at his new gig than it is at his old one.

If he's gotten a raise, they haven't told him about it yet. At UA, he will be one of many (Cecil Hurt being the King), at UAB, he would have the chief, and made a name for himself (more than he already has)........kind of like what Bill Clark is about to do.

What I'm saying is, if these writers' pay structures are tied to hits/comments as some seem to say...then he has a built-in opportunity for more hits/comments by covering Alabama.

That's not even factoring in that he graduated from Alabama and might enjoy covering is Alma Mater since he had no connection to UAB before taking his previous job anyway.

I wish him the best! He's a great writer and a hard worker.

Yeah, I'll still support him, for sure. You never know, we might get him back later on.

As the old saying goes, "Be nice to those you encounter on the way up as you may see them again on the way down". I hope the UAB beat assignment will become a coveted post one day to be aspired to as a summit to be attained rather than a stepping stone.

I'll continue to support him too, when he covers UAB again or a school other than Alabama or Auburn.

The man did nothing wrong. As far as I'm concerned he did everything as right as he could. I'm just not gonna contribute to that school to the west.

Who said their income was tied to their hits? Not me. The hits and comments are how they judge the popularity of things. That's a fact.

Also never said the ceiling wasn't any higher.

There's a pretty good chance AL.com won't assign anyone to cover UAB, and simply rely on wire reports and media releases.

And in turn the school should make things difficult for al.com in other areas of the university.

I think he was referring to AL.com not the individual. I could be wrong.

A contribution to join the Blazer Club at UAB will get you some school recognition and some benefits. A similar contribution "to that school to the west" won't even make the "petty cash" list. The only things we have in common is a state boundary and a BOT, and the latter is no advantage.

+1
Even a chance that Cheryl Wray might help him some.
