MWC teams do it if they make the mwc title game. (the Hawaii exception gives them 13 regular season games. Add Hawaii with the rest of the western teams you guys want and you ve got it!

RE: Time for a 14 Game Season?
No, just time to drop a fluff game and add a more meaningful one. I doubt it happens with the 4 team playoff structure, but if it ever increases to 8 games I doubt we will see many top teams that want to be part of that playoff scheduling more than one, if any, FCS teams.

Like ECBrad said, they're student athletes. If they raise the number of games, they need to raise the academic requirements first. These kids already spend more time away from the classroom than they do in it in most cases.

But what would happen to the athletic budgets of FCS schools that lose the buy-game beat down?

Doesn't matter. That's an internal decision for those FCS teams playing football to make. Many of them played football before the big money games, if they want to continue I'm sure they will find a way.

RE: Time for a 14 Game Season?
I really think the best solution is to do away with the FBS-FCS match ups as part of the regular season, but allow each FBS school that wants to to schedule an exhibition game vs and FCS opponent the week before the official start of the season. It would be a 13th game for all intents and purposes, but it would not count towards the standings, so teams could go into the game with a slimmed down playbook without having to worry about taking a loss to an inferred inferior opponent. The schools would get all the benefits of the FCS game (FCS schools would get a check, FBS schools would get an extra home date and an opportunity to tune up before the real games begin).

If any conferences wanted to go to 10 game schedules, they would still have 2 OOC games to schedule against FBS opponents, which is what teams from conferences that play 9 conference games have right now once you remove the FCS opponent.

I didn't read the article, but any attempt to increase the season only harms the case against paying players, which means at best case, it is a revenue loser. The only way you will see more games added is if players are to be paid.

Might as well play an NFL schedule. It's already an NFL Lite in some places anyway
