RE: C-USA Baseball Tournament Seeding
Against the seven other teams, ODU won three series, lost three series and did not play USM. None of the series were sweeps. Two of the games against Rice went into extra innings. One of the games with MTSU was a 1-0 loss on a solo homerun. Looks like a pretty tightly knit group here to me.

RE: C-USA Baseball Tournament Seeding
And FIU has a helluva good pitching staff.
Anything can happen.
Wouldn't surprise me at all to see FIU advance.
Those first-round games are going to be gems. Make an error or give up a leadoff walk, and you will pay dearly for it.
UTSA seemed like a helluva good team when we played them, and they are the lowest-ranked RPI team in the tourney (besides us).
Hope our guys are not just happy to make it, after missing out last year in the Belt. We should have a decent crew in Hattiesburg.

RE: C-USA Baseball Tournament Seeding
Wow. What interesting seeding. This should be a heck of a tourny.
Honestly, it seems like every single team has a solid shot to win their first game. Aside from series comparisons, given one game to play, it seems like anything can happen on Wednesday. It will be interesting to see how the pitching rotations are planned for each team.

One thing I noticed about ECU was that it seems like their entire batting lineup were lefties. Teams will need to throw a southpaw pitcher at them or get eaten alive

RE: ***2014 CUSA BASEBALL TOURNAMENT OFFICIAL THREAD***
So, ODU is your coach trying to pull a fast one or is he conceding the first game already going up against the nation's strikeout leader?
I noticed your #1 Roberts is not going today in favor or your #2 (Yarborough).
For background, Curtis threw a three-hit CG shutout against ODU striking out 11 back in April. Roberts was pretty good too allowing just one run on four hits over seven innings.
I doubt we'll see a repeat performance by Curtis, but I was curious if ODU is trying to stack the deck or trying to position itself in case it ends up in the losers bracket?
BTW, if he's trying to steal one today in hoping he can throw Roberts tomorrow that almost always backfires. I've seen teams do this for years in conference tournaments and regionals only to see it blow up in their face. Love it. Game 1 and we're already seeing some strategy here. Man I wish I had nothing to do and could sit in Hattiesburg all week.

RE: ***2014 CUSA BASEBALL TOURNAMENT OFFICIAL THREAD***
We aren't throwing our #1 (Fisk) against ECU either.....presumably because he pitched on Friday. But we didn't throw our #2 (Talley) this weekend to save him for ECU. Strategery.

That makes sense in your case though. You were basically only playing for the difference between being the #2 seed or #3 seed. Not really much on the line there.
Roberts threw Friday too, and Yarborough only tossed two innings on Saturday. Curtis went on Thursday of last week, so he's had an extra day of rest. Thanks for bringing that up. Case closed.

Is your #2 a southpaw? ECU has a ton of left handed hitters. The game we won vs them was when our lefty started

We don't have any lefty starters. Talley's last start he pitched a complete game against ECU. Allowed 6 hits, 1 run, struck out 10.
